Morning Prayer Sunday
1st Lesson Isaiah 41:8-10, 17-20
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the
seed of Abraham my friend. 9 Thou whom I have taken from the ends of
the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto
thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy
God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold
thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their
tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of
Israel will not forsake them. 18 I will open rivers in high places,
and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness
a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. 19 I will plant in
the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the
oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the
box tree together: 20 That they may see, and know, and consider, and
understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the
Holy One of Israel hath created it.

2nd Lesson John 4:1-14
1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that
Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus
himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and
departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. 5
Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to
the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's
well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat
thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a
woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to
drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being
a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews
have no dealings with the Samaritans. 10 Jesus answered and said unto
her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to
thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would
have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou
hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast
thou that living water? 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob,
which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children,
and his cattle? 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever
drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh
of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water
that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up
into everlasting life.

1st Lesson Deuteronomy 16:18-20 &
17:8-11
18 Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which
the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall
judge the people with just judgment. 19 Thou shalt not wrest judgment;
thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth
blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. 20
That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest
live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
8 If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between
blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke,
being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise,
and get thee up into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose; 9
And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge
that shall be in those days, and inquire; and they shall shew thee the
sentence of judgment: 10 And thou shalt do according to the sentence,
which they of that place which the Lord shall choose shall shew thee;
and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee:
11 According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee,
and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt
do: thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall shew
thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.

2nd Lesson James 2:1-13
1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your
assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in
also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that
weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good
place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my
footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become
judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God
chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom
which he hath promised to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised
the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the
judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which
ye are called? 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the
scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But
if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the
law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and
yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do
not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no
adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of
liberty. 13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed
no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

Prayer Sunday
1st Lesson Isaiah 56:1-8
1 Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my
salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. 2
Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth
hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth
his hand from doing any evil. 3 Neither let the son of the stranger,
that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath
utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say,
Behold, I am a dry tree. 4 For thus saith the Lord unto the eunuchs
that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take
hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and
within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of
daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut
off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the
Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his
servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and
taketh hold of my covenant; 7 Even them will I bring to my holy
mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt
offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for
mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. 8 The
Lord God which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I
gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto
him.

2nd Lesson John 2:13
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to
Jerusalem, 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep
and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made
a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the
sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew
the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things
hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. 17 And his
disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath
eaten me up. 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign
shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus
answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I
will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this
temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he
spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from
the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them;
and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. 23
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many
believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But
Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25
And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in
man.

1st Lesson Isaiah 54:1-8
1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into
singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for
more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married
wife, saith the Lord. 2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them
stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen
thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; 3 For thou shalt break forth on
the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the
Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. 4 Fear not;
for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou
shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy
youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and
thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall
he be called. 6 For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and
grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith
thy God. 7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great
mercies will I gather thee. 8 In a little wrath I hid my face from
thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on
thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer.

2nd Leson Romans 14:1. 15:3
1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful
disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another,
who is weak, eateth herbs. 3 Let not him that eateth despise him that
eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth:
for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's
servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be
holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 5 One man esteemeth one
day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be
fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day,
regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the
Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he
giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not,
and giveth God thanks. 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man
dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and
whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or
die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose,
and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. 10 But
why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy
brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to
me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us
shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge
one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a
stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 14 I know,
and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of
itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it
is unclean. 15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now
walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom
Christ died. 16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17 For the
kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace,
and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18 For he that in these things serveth
Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19 Let us therefore
follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one
may edify another. 20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things
indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing
whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22
Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that
condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23And he that
doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for
whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the
weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let every one of us please his
neighbour for his good to edification. 3 For even Christ pleased not
himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached
thee fell on me.

1st Lesson Proverbs 10:12-14,
18-21
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. 13 In
the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is
for the back of him that is void of understanding. 14 Wise men lay up
knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a
slander, is a fool. 19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not
sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. 20 The tongue of the
just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. 21
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of
wisdom.

2nd Lesson Phillipians 1:27. 2:11
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of
Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear
of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind
striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 And in nothing
terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of
perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. 30 Having the
same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort
of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being
of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through strife or
vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than
themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also
on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in
Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery
to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took
upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also
hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every
name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in
heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that
every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.

1st Lesson Ezekiel 27:1-5, 26-36
1 The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, 2 Now, thou son
of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus; 3 And say unto Tyrus, O thou
that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the
people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; O Tyrus, thou hast
said, I am of perfect beauty. 4 Thy borders are in the midst of the
seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty. 5 They have made all thy
ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon
to make masts for thee.
26 Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind
hath broken thee in the midst of the seas. 27 Thy riches, and thy
fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and
the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in
thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall
into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin. 28 The suburbs
shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots. 29 And all that
handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall
come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land; 30 And
shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry
bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow
themselves in the ashes: 31 And they shall make themselves utterly
bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for
thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing. 32 And in their
wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over
thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst
of the sea? 33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou
filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with
the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise. 34 In the time
when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy
merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall. 35
All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and
their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their
countenance. 36 The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee;
thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.

2nd Lesson John 5:1-15
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to
Jerusalem. 2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool,
which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt,
withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went
down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water:
whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was
made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 5 And a certain man was
there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw
him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he
saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7 The impotent man answered
him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into
the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9 And
immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked:
and on the same day was the sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said unto
him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee
to carry thy bed. 11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same
said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. 12 Then asked they him, What
man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? 13 And he
that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself
away, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus findeth him
in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no
more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. 15 The man departed, and told
the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

1st Lesson Proverbs 10:22-29
22 The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no
sorrow with it. 23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man
of understanding hath wisdom. 24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come
upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. 25 As the
whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an
everlasting foundation. 26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to
the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him. 27 The fear of the
Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of
the wicked shall perish. 29 The way of the Lord is strength to the
upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of
iniquity.

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my
presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in
you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things
without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and
harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked
and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of
Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. 17 Yea,
and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I
joy, and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same cause also do ye joy,

1st Lesson Ezekiel 33:1-9
1 Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man,
speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring
the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their
coasts, and set him for their watchman: 3 If when he seeth the sword
come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; 4 Then
whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if
the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own
head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his
blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his
soul. 6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any
person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his
blood will I require at the watchman's hand. 7 So thou, O son of man,
I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou
shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. 8 When I say
unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not
speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in
his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9
Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if
he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou
hast delivered thy soul.

2nd Lesson John 5:16-29
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay
him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. 17 But Jesus
answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. 18 Therefore
the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken
the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself
equal with God. 19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he
seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth
the Son likewise. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him
all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than
these, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead,
and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For
the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the
Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the
Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which
hath sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my
word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and
shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that
hear shall live. 26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he
given to the Son to have life in himself; 27 And hath given him
authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. 28
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are
in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that
have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done
evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

1st Lesson Proverbs 11:9-14,
24-30
9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through
knowledge shall the just be delivered. 10 When it goeth well with the
righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is
shouting. 11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but
it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. 12 He that is void of
wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his
peace. 13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful
spirit concealeth the matter. 14 Where no counsel is, the people fall:
but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that
withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The
liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered
also himself. 26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him:
but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. 27 He that
diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh
mischief, it shall come unto him. 28 He that trusteth in his riches
shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. 29 He that
troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be
servant to the wise of heart. 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree
of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

2nd Lesson Phillipians 2:19
19 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto
you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 20
For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21 For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. 22
But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath
served with me in the gospel. 23 Him therefore I hope to send
presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me. 24 But I
trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly. 25 Yet I
supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and
companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he
that ministered to my wants. 26 For he longed after you all, and was
full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. 27
For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and
not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon
sorrow. 28 I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see
him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29
Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in
reputation: 30 Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death,
not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward
me.

1st Lesson Ezekiel 33:10-20
10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel;
Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us,
and we pine away in them, how should we then live? 11 Say unto them,
As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the
wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn
ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? 12
Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The
righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his
transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall
thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall
the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he
sinneth. 13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely
live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all
his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that
he hath committed, he shall die for it. 14 Again, when I say unto the
wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that
which is lawful and right; 15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give
again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without
committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. 16 None
of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he
hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live. 17 Yet
the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but
as for them, their way is not equal. 18 When the righteous turneth
from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die
thereby. 19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that
which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. 20 Yet ye say, The
way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you
every one after his ways.

2nd Lesson John 5:30
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my
judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of
the Father which hath sent me. 31 If I bear witness of myself, my
witness is not true. 32 There is another that beareth witness of me;
and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. 33 Ye
sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34 But I receive
not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be
saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing
for a season to rejoice in his light. 36 But I have greater witness
than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to
finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father
hath sent me. 37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath
borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor
seen his shape. 38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom
he hath sent, him ye believe not. 39 Search the scriptures; for in
them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of
me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. 41 I
receive not honour from men. 42 But I know you, that ye have not the
love of God in you. 43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive
me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. 44
How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not
the honour that cometh from God only? 45 Do not think that I will
accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses,
in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed
me: for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how
shall ye believe my words?

1st Lesson Proverbs 14:26
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children
shall have a place of refuge. 27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of
life, to depart from the snares of death. 28 In the multitude of
people is the king's honour: but in the want of people is the
destruction of the prince. 29 He that is slow to wrath is of great
understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. 30 A
sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the
bones. 31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he
that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor. 32 The wicked is driven
away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. 33
Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that
which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34 Righteousness
exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. 35 The king's
favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that
causeth shame.

2nd Lesson Phillipians 3:1-16
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same
things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. 2
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. 3 For
we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice
in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. 4 Though I might
also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he
hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the
eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an
Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning
zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in
the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted
loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for
the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I
have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that
I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own
righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the
faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I
may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of
his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any
means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as
though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I
follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am
apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which
are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in
Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus
minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal
even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained,
let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same
thing.

1st Lesson Ezekiel 33:23
23 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 24 Son of man,
they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying,
Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land
is given us for inheritance. 25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith
the Lord God; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your
idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land? 26 Ye stand upon
your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his
neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land? 27 Say thou thus unto
them, Thus saith the Lord God; As I live, surely they that are in the
wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will
I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and
in the caves shall die of the pestilence. 28 For I will lay the land
most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the
mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.
29 Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I have laid the land
most desolate because of all their abominations which they have
committed. 30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still
are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses,
and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I
pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord.
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before
thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them:
for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after
their covetousness. 32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely
song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an
instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. 33 And when
this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a
prophet hath been among them.

2nd Lesson John 6:1-14
1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is
the sea of Tiberias. 2 And a great multitude followed him, because
they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. 3 And
Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. 4
And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. 5 When Jesus then
lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith
unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? 6 And this
he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip
answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for
them, that every one of them may take a little. 8 One of his
disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, 9 There is a
lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but
what are they among so many? 10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down.
Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number
about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had
given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to
them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they
would. 12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up
the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. 13 Therefore they
gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments
of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them
that had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that
Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into
the world.

1st Lesson Proverbs 15:16-23,
27-29
16 Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure
and trouble therewith. 17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is,
than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. 18 A wrathful man stirreth up
strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. 19 The way of
the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the
righteous is made plain. 20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a
foolish man despiseth his mother. 21 Folly is joy to him that is
destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly. 22
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of
counsellors they are established. 23 A man hath joy by the answer of
his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that
hateth gifts shall live. 28 The heart of the righteous studieth to
answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. 29 The
Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the
righteous.

2nd Lesson Phillipians 3:17. 4:3
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk
so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have
told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the
enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God
is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly
things.) 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we
look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our
vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things
unto himself.
1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and
crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. 2 I beseech
Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the
Lord. 3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women
which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with
other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of
life.

Prayer Friday
1st Lesson Ezekiel 34:1-10
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man,
prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them,
Thus saith the Lord God unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of
Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the
flocks? 3 Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill
them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. 4 The diseased have ye
not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither
have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again
that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was
lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. 5 And they
were scattered, because there is no shepherd: and they became meat to
all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered. 6 My sheep
wandered through all the mountains, and upon every high hill: yea, my
flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did
search or seek after them. 7 Therefore, ye shepherds, hear the word of
the Lord; 8 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock
became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field,
because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my
flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; 9
Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord; 10 Thus saith
the Lord God; Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require
my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the
flock; neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I
will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for
them.

2nd Lesson John 6:15-29
15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him
by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain
himself alone. 16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down
unto the sea, 17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward
Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. 18 And
the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. 19 So when they had
rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking
on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. 20
But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. 21 Then they willingly
received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land
whither they went. 22 The day following, when the people which stood
on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there,
save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus
went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were
gone away alone; 23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh
unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given
thanks:) 24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there,
neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum,
seeking for Jesus. 25 And when they had found him on the other side of
the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? 26 Jesus
answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me,
not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves,
and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for
that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man
shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 28 Then said
they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye
believe on him whom he hath sent.

Prayer Saturday
1st Lesson Proverbs 16:25
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end
thereof are the ways of death. 26 He that laboureth laboureth for
himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. 27 An ungodly man diggeth up
evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. 28 A froward man
soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. 29 A violent
man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not
good. 30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his
lips he bringeth evil to pass. 31 The hoary head is a crown of glory,
if it be found in the way of righteousness. 32 He that is slow to
anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he
that taketh a city. 33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole
disposing thereof is of the Lord.

2nd Lesson Phillipians 4:4
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your
moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any
praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both
learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of
peace shall be with you. 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that
now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were
also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in
respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know
how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to
be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can
do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14
Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my
affliction. 15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of
the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated
with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16 For even
in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17 Not
because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your
account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of
Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet
smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19 But my God
shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus. 20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever.
Amen. 21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are
with me greet you. 22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are
of Caesar's household. 23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with
you all. Amen.

1st Lesson Ezekiel 34:11-16
11 For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search
my sheep, and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in
the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek
out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have
been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. 13 And I will bring them
out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will
bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of
Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
14 I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of
Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and
in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. 15 I
will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord
God. 16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which
was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will
strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the
strong; I will feed them with judgment.

2nd Lesson John 6:30-40
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that
we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did
eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from
heaven to eat. 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father
giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he
which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then
said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus
said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall
never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36 But I
said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. 37 All that
the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I
will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do
mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the
Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I
should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth
the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will
raise him up at the last day.
