Prayer Sunday
1st Lesson Ezekiel 34:25
25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the
evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the
wilderness, and sleep in the woods. 26 And I will make them and the
places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to
come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. 27 And the
tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her
increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am
the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them
out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. 28 And they
shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the
land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them
afraid. 29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they
shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the
shame of the heathen any more. 30 Thus shall they know that I the Lord
their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my
people, saith the Lord God. 31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture,
are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

2nd Lesson Luke 11:1-13
1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place,
when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to
pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When
ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day
by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive
every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but
deliver us from evil. 5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a
friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend,
lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to
me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall
answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children
are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you,
Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet
because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he
needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and
ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one
that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you
that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he
for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he
offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good
gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give
the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

1st Lesson 2 Esdras 14:27-35
27 Then went I forth, as he commanded, and gathered all the people
together, and said, 28 Hear these words, O Israel. 29 Our fathers at the
beginning were strangers in Egypt, from whence they were delivered: 30
And received the law of life, which they kept not, which ye also have
transgressed after them. 31 Then was the land, even the land of Sion,
parted among you by lot: but your fathers, and ye yourselves, have done
unrighteousness, and have not kept the ways which the Highest commanded
you. 32 And forasmuch as he is a righteous judge, he took from you in
time the thing that he had given you. 33 And now are ye here, and your
brethren among you. 34 Therefore if so be that ye will subdue your own
understanding, and reform your hearts, ye shall be kept alive and after
death ye shall obtain mercy. 35 For after death shall the judgment come,
when we shall live again: and then shall the names of the righteous be
manifest, and the works of the ungodly shall be declared.

2nd Lesson Acts 4:1-13, 33
1 And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of
the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, 2 Being grieved that they
taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the
dead. 3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next
day: for it was now eventide. 4 Howbeit many of them which heard the
word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. 5 And
it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and
scribes, 6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and
Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were
gathered together at Jerusalem. 7 And when they had set them in the
midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? 8
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the
people, and elders of Israel, 9 If we this day be examined of the good
deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it
known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the
dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is
the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the
head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for
there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must
be saved. 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and
perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and
they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection
of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

1st Lesson Isaiah 48:12-21
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the
first, I also am the last. 13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of
the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto
them, they stand up together. 14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear;
which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: he
will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him,
and he shall make his way prosperous. 16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye
this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that
it was, there am I: and now the Lord God, and his spirit, hath sent me.
17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the
Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the
way that thou shouldest go. 18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my
commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness
as the waves of the sea: 19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the
offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not
have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. 20 Go ye forth of
Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye,
tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The Lord hath
redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them
through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for
them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

2nd Lesson Revelations 5
1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book
written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw
a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the
book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven, nor in
earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to
look thereon. 4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open
and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5 And one of the elders
saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root
of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals
thereof. 6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the
four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been
slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of
God sent forth into all the earth. 7 And he came and took the book out
of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. 8 And when he had
taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down
before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full
of odours, which are the prayers of saints. 9 And they sung a new song,
saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof:
for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of
every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us
unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. 11 And
I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne
and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand
times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud
voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches,
and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And
every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the
earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I
saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that
sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14 And the
four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and
worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

1st Lesson Ezekiel 36:25
25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean:
from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within
you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will
give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and
cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do
them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and
ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will also save you
from all your uncleannesses: and I will call for the corn, and will
increase it, and lay no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the
fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive
no more reproach of famine among the heathen. 31 Then shall ye remember
your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe
yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your
abominations. 32 Not for your sakes do I this, saith the Lord God, be it
known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of
Israel. 33 Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have
cleansed you from all your iniquities I will also cause you to dwell in
the cities, and the wastes shall be builded. 34 And the desolate land
shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed
by. 35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like
the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are
become fenced, and are inhabited. 36 Then the heathen that are left
round about you shall know that I the Lord build the ruined places, and
plant that that was desolate: I the Lord have spoken it, and I will do
it. 37 Thus saith the Lord God; I will yet for this be inquired of by
the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men
like a flock. 38 As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in her
solemn feasts; so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men:
and they shall know that I am the Lord.

verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be
thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his
heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to
pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive
them, and ye shall have them. 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if
ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may
forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will

1st Lesson Deuteronomy 8:1-11,
17-20
1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe
to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land
which the Lord sware unto your fathers. 2 And thou shalt remember all
the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the
wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine
heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 3 And he
humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna,
which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make
thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that
proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. 4 Thy raiment
waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his
son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. 6 Therefore thou shalt keep
the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear
him. 7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of
brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and
hills; 8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and
pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; 9 A land wherein thou
shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it;
a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig
brass. 10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the
Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. 11 Beware that
thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and
his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand
hath gotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God:
for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish
his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. 19 And
it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after
other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this
day that ye shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the Lord
destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be
obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

2nd Lesson Matthew 6:5-15
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the
streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have
their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and
when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and
thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But when ye
pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that
they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like
unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before
ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art
in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done
in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their
trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye
forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your
trespasses.

1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto
the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments
which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on
high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall

the Lord thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt
thou be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the
fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy
kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy
store. 6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt
thou be when thou goest out. 7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that
rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out
against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 The Lord shall
command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou
settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the
Lord thy God giveth thee. 9 The Lord shall establish thee an holy people
unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the
commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all
people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the
Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And the Lord shall make thee
plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy
cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware
unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good
treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and
to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many
nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the Lord shall make thee the
head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not
be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy
God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14 And
thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this
day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve
them.

2nd Lesson James 1:1-17
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve
tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My brethren, count it all
joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the
trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her
perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If
any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men
liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him
ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of
the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think
that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is
unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in
that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low: because as
the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no sooner
risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower
thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also
shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed is the man that
endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of
life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13 Let no man
say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted
with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted,
when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust
hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished,
bringeth forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good
gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the
Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of
turning.

10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the
land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and
wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: 11 But the land,
whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and
drinketh water of the rain of heaven: 12 A land which the Lord thy God
careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the
beginning of the year even unto the end of the year. 13 And it shall
come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which
I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with
all your heart and with all your soul, 14 That I will give you the rain
of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that
thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil. 15 And I
will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and
be full. 16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived,
and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; 17 And then
the Lord's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that
there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye
perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you.

2nd Lesson Matthew 6:24
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and
love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon. 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no
thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor
yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat,
and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow
not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly
Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you
by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye
thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That
even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and
to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye
of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we
eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32
(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly
Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye
first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient
unto the day is the evil thereof.

22 And Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of
all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward
heaven: 23 And he said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee,
in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy
with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart: 24 Who
hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him:
thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand,
as it is this day. 25 Therefore now, Lord God of Israel, keep with thy
servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall
not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that
thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou
hast walked before me. 26 And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray
thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.
27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven
of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have
builded? 28 Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to
his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the
prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee today: 29 That thine eyes
may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of
which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken
unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place. 30 And
hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people
Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven
thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

2nd Lesson James 4:8
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands,
ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted,
and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your
joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he
shall lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that
speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of
the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a
doer of the law, but a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to
save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? 13 Go to now, ye
that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue
there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not
what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that
ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

1st Lesson Jeremiah 14:1-9
1 The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth. 2
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish; they are black unto the
ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up. 3 And their nobles have
sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, and found
no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and
confounded, and covered their heads. 4 Because the ground is chapt, for
there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered
their heads. 5 Yea, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it,
because there was no grass. 6 And the wild asses did stand in the high
places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes did fail,
because there was no grass. 7 O Lord, though our iniquities testify
against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are
many; we have sinned against thee. 8 O the hope of Israel, the saviour
thereof in time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a stranger in the
land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night? 9
Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot
save? yet thou, O Lord, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy
name; leave us not.

2nd Lesson 1 John 5:5-15
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that
Jesus is the Son of God? 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even
Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there
are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy
Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness
in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three
agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is
greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his
Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:
he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not
the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God
hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that
hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not
life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name
of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that
ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the
confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to
his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever
we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1st Lesson Three Children
29-37
29 Blessed art thou, O Lord God of our fathers: and to be praised and
exalted above all for ever. 30 And blessed is thy glorious and holy
name: and to be praised and exalted above all for ever. 31 Blessed art
thou in the temple of thine holy glory: and to be praised and glorified
above all for ever. 32 Blessed art thou that beholdest the depths, and
sittest upon the cherubims: and to be praised and exalted above all for
ever. 33 Blessed art thou on the glorious throne of thy kingdom: and to
be praised and glorified above all for ever. 34 Blessed art thou in the
firmament of heaven: and above all to be praised and gloried for ever.
35 O all ye works of the Lord, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt him
above all for ever. 36 O ye heavens, bless ye the Lord: praise and exalt
him above all for ever. 37 O ye angels of the Lord, bless ye the Lord:
praise and exalt him above all for ever.

2nd Lesson Luke 24:44
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you,
while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were
written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms,
concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might
understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written,
and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the
third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be
preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And
ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of
my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be
endued with power from on high. 50 And he led them out as far as to
Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. 51 And it came to
pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up
into heaven. 52 And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with
great joy: 53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing
God. Amen.

Prayer Thursday
1st Lesson Daniel 7:9-10, 12-14
9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days
did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like
the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as
burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him:
thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten
thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were
opened.
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man
came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and
they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion,
and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages,
should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall
not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

2nd Lesson Ephesians 4:1-16
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk
worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and
meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of
your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father
of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 7 But unto
every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of
Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led
captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended,
what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the
earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above
all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some,
apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in
the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a
perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and
carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and
cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking
the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the
head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and
compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the
body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Prayer Thursday
1st Lesson Isaiah 33:5-6, 17, 20-22
5 The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion
with judgment and righteousness. 6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the
stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord
is his treasure.
17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the
land that is very far off.
20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see
Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down;
not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any
of the cords thereof be broken. 21 But there the glorious Lord will be
unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley
with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 22 For the Lord is
our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save
us.

2nd Lesson Hebrews 4:14. 5:10
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into
the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling
of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in
things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices
for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that
are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with
infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also
for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto
himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ
glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto
him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in
another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of
Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up
prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was
able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though
he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto
all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order
of Melchisedec.

Prayer Friday
1st Lesson Micah 4:1-7
1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of
the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains,
and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will
teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall
go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 3 And he
shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and
they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into
pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither
shall they learn war any more. 4 But they shall sit every man under his
vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the
mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it. 5 For all people will walk
every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the
Lord our God for ever and ever. 6 In that day, saith the Lord, will I
assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and
her that I have afflicted; 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant,
and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign
over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

2nd Lesson Romans 8:31
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up
for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33
Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that
justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who
also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love
of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are
killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things
to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.

Prayer Friday
1st Lesson Isaiah 12
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O Lord, I will praise thee: though
thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou
comfortedst me. 2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be
afraid: for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is
become my salvation. 3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the
wells of salvation. 4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord,
call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention
that his name is exalted. 5 Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done
excellent things: this is known in all the earth. 6 Cry out and shout,
thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the
midst of thee.

2nd Lesson Acts 1:12
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet,
which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. 13 And when they were
come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and
James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and
Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the
brother of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his
brethren. 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the
disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred
and twenty,) 16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been
fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before
concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. 17 For he was
numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this
man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong,
he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. 19 And it
was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is
called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of
blood. 20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be
desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another
take. 21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the
time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 Beginning from the
baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must
one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. 23 And they
appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and
Matthias. 24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the
hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, 25 That
he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by
transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. 26 And they gave
forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered
with the eleven apostles.

1st Lesson Genesis 49:1-2, 8-10
1 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves
together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last
days. 2 Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and
hearken unto Israel your father.
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall
be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down
before thee. 9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art
gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who
shall rouse him up? 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a
lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall
the gathering of the people be.

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren
beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to
salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory
of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold
the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our
epistle. 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father,
which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good
hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every
good word and work.

1st Lesson Jeremiah 23:5-8
5 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David
a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall
execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be
saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he
shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7 Therefore, behold, the
days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no more say, The Lord liveth,
which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8 But,
The Lord liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of
Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had
driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

2nd Lesson Acts 2:1-21
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with
one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire,
and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy
Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out
of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the
multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man
heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and
marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak
Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we
were born? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in
Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, 10
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about
Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretes and
Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of
God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to
another, What meaneth this? 13 Others mocking said, These men are full
of new wine. 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his
voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at
Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15 For these
are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the
day. 16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it
shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my
Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in
those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will shew
wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and
fire, and vapour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and
the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of
the Lord shall be saved.
