Lesson Joshua 1:1-9
1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the
Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun,
Moses' minister, saying, 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore
arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land
which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. 3 Every place
that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you,
as I said unto Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto
the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and
unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your
coast. 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the
days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will
not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for
unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I
sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very
courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law,
which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right
hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way
prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I
commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither
be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou
goest. 1st Lesson Ezekiel 3:4-11 4 And he said unto me, Son of man, go,
get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. 5
For thou art not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard
language, but to the house of Israel; 6 Not to many people of a strange
speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand.
Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee. 7
But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not
hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and
hardhearted. 8 Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces,
and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 9 As an adamant harder
than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed
at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. 10 Moreover he said
unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive
in thine heart, and hear with thine ears. 11 And go, get thee to them of
the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and
tell them, Thus saith the Lord God; whether they will hear, or whether
they will forbear.

Lesson II Timothy 2:1-13
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace
that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me
among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be
able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good
soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with
the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to
be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not
crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must
be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord
give thee understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ of
the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word
of God is not bound. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's
sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus
with eternal glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with
him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign
with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not,
yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. 2nd Lesson Matthew
5:1-16 1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when
he was set, his disciples came unto him: 2 And he opened his mouth, and
taught them, saying, 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be
comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain
mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of
God. 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall
revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against
you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great
is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were
before you. 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost
his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for
nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye
are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and
glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I Maccabees
2:49-64
49 Now when the time drew near that Mattathias
should die, he said unto his sons, Now hath pride and rebuke gotten
strength, and the time of destruction, and the wrath of indignation: 50
Now therefore, my sons, be ye zealous for the law, and give your lives
for the covenant of your fathers. 51 Call to remembrance what acts our
fathers did in their time; so shall ye receive great honour and an
everlasting name. 52 Was not Abraham found faithful in temptation, and
it was imputed unto him for righteousness? 53 Joseph in the time of his
distress kept the commandment and was made lord of Egypt. 54 Phinees our
father in being zealous and fervent obtained the covenant of an
everlasting priesthood. 55 Jesus for fulfilling the word was made a
judge in Israel. 56 Caleb for bearing witness before the congregation
received the heritage of the land. 57 David for being merciful possessed
the throne of an everlasting kingdom. 58 Elias for being zealous and
fervent for the law was taken up into heaven. 59 Ananias, Azarias, and
Misael, by believing were saved out of the flame. 60 Daniel for his
innocency was delivered from the mouth of lions. 61 And thus consider ye
throughout all ages, that none that put their trust in him shall be
overcome. 62 Fear not then the words of a sinful man: for his glory
shall be dung and worms. 63 To day he shall be lifted up and to morrow
he shall not be found, because he is returned into his dust, and his
thought is come to nothing. 64 Wherefore, ye my sons, be valiant and
shew yourselves men in the behalf of the law; for by it shall ye obtain
glory.

Lesson Isaiah 5:1-7
1 Now will I sing to my well beloved a song of my
beloved touching his vineyard. My well beloved hath a vineyard in a very
fruitful hill: 2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof,
and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of
it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should
bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. 3 And now, O
inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt
me and my vineyard. 4 What could have been done more to my vineyard,
that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should
bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes? 5 And now go to; I
will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge
thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and
it shall be trodden down: 6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be
pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will
also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. 7 For the
vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of
Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold
oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Lesson I Timothy 6:11-19
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and
follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto
thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many
witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all
things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a
good confession; 14 That thou keep this commandment without spot,
unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 Which in
his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King
of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in
the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can
see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 17 Charge them that
are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in
uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things
to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready
to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for
themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay
hold on eternal life.

Matthew 21:23-32
23 And when he was come into the temple, the
chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was
teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who
gave thee this authority? 24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I
also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will
tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John,
whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with
themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us,
Why did ye not then believe him? 26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear
the people; for all hold John as a prophet. 27 And they answered Jesus,
and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by
what authority I do these things. 28 But what think ye? A certain man
had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in
my vineyard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he
repented, and went. 30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And
he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. 31 Whether of them twain
did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith
unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go
into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you in the way
of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the
harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not
afterward, that ye might believe him.

Lesson Genesis 1:1-19
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon
the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And
God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the
darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called
Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God
said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it
divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and
divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which
were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament
Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 And God
said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one
place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the
dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas:
and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth
grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after
his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And
the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were
the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of
the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs,
and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights
in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was
so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day,
and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And
God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the
earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the
light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the
evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Lesson Mark 6:7-13
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to
send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean
spirits; 8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their
journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats. 10 And he said
unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till
ye depart from that place. 11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor
hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for
a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more
tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that
city. 12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent. 13 And
they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick,
and healed them.

Lesson Amos 7:1-8. 1-3
1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and,
behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of
the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's
mowings. 2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating
the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee:
by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small. 3 The Lord repented for
this: It shall not be, saith the Lord. 4 Thus hath the Lord God shewed
unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it
devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part. 5 Then said I, O Lord
God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6 The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord
God. 7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made
by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. 8 And the Lord said unto
me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord,
Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will
not again pass by them any more:
1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and
behold a basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, Amos, what seest thou?
And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the Lord unto me, The
end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any
more. 3 And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith
the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall
cast them forth with silence.

Lesson Galatians 1:1-10
1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man,
but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus
Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from
this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5
To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 6 I marvel that ye are so soon
removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another
gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and
would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from
heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have
preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I
now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have
received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or
do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the
servant of Christ.

Lesson Genesis 1:20. 2:3
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth
abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly
above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created
great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters
brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after
his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying,
Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl
multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth
day. 24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature
after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after
his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after
his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth
upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 26 And God
said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he
them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living
thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given
you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth,
and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to
you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to
every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it
was so. 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was
very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished,
and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work
which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work
which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:
because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and
made.

Lesson Mark 6:14-29
14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was
spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the
dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 15
Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or
as one of the prophets. 16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is
John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. 17 For Herod himself
had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for
Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. 18
For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy
brother's wife. 19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and
would have killed him; but she could not: 20 For Herod feared John,
knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when
he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. 21 And when a
convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his
lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; 22 And when the
daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and
them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me
whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. 23 And he sware unto her,
Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of
my kingdom. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall
I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. 25 And she came in
straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that
thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist. 26 And
the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their
sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her. 27 And immediately
the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and
he went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 And brought his head in a
charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her
mother. 29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his
corpse, and laid it in a tomb.

Lesson Amos 1:1-5, 13. 2:3
1 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of
Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of
Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two
years before the earthquake. 2 And he said, The Lord will roar from
Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the
shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither. 3 Thus saith
the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not
turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with
threshing instruments of iron: 4 But I will send a fire into the house
of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad. 5 I will break
also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of
Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the
people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
13 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions
of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the
punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of
Gilead, that they might enlarge their border: 14 But I will kindle a
fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof,
with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the
whirlwind: 15 And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes
together, saith the Lord.
1 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions
of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof;
because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime: 2 But I will
send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and
Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the
trumpet: 3 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will
slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the Lord.

Lesson Galatians 1:11
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel
which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it
of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews'
religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and
wasted it: 14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in
mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my
fathers. 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's
womb, and called me by his grace, 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I
might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with
flesh and blood: 17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were
apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto
Damascus. 18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter,
and abode with him fifteen days. 19 But other of the apostles saw I
none, save James the Lord's brother. 20 Now the things which I write
unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. 21 Afterwards I came into the
regions of Syria and Cilicia; 22 And was unknown by face unto the
churches of Judaea which were in Christ: 23 But they had heard only,

once he destroyed. 24 And they glorified God in me.

Lesson Genesis 2:4-9, 16-25
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of
the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the
earth and the heavens, 5 And every plant of the field before it was in
the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God
had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to
till the ground. 6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered
the whole face of the ground. 7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust
of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and
man became a living soul. 8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward
in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the
ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the
sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the
garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of
every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. 18 And the Lord God
said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an
help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every
beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto
Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every
living creature, that was the name thereof. 20 And Adam gave names to
all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field;
but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the Lord
God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one
of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib,
which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her
unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh
of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of
Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall
cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both
naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Lesson Mark 6:30-44
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together
unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what
they had taught. 31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into
a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going,
and they had no leisure so much as to eat. 32 And they departed into a
desert place by ship privately. 33 And the people saw them departing,
and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent
them, and came together unto him. 34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw
much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they
were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many
things. 35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto
him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and
into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to
eat. 37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they
say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and
give them to eat? 38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and
see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 39 And he
commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. 41 And when
he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven,
and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set
before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. 42 And they
did all eat, and were filled. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of
the fragments, and of the fishes. 44 And they that did eat of the loaves
were about five thousand men.

Lesson Amos 2:6
6 Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions
of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof;
because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of
shoes; 7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor,
and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in
unto the same maid, to profane my holy name: 8 And they lay themselves
down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine
of the condemned in the house of their god. 9 Yet destroyed I the
Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and
he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his
roots from beneath. 10 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and
led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the
Amorite. 11 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young
men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith
the Lord. 12 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the
prophets, saying, Prophesy not. 13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a
cart is pressed that is full of sheaves. 14 Therefore the flight shall
perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force,
neither shall the mighty deliver himself: 15 Neither shall he stand that
handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver
himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself. 16 And
he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that
day, saith the Lord.

Lesson Galatians 2:1-10
1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to
Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2 And I went up by
revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among
the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by
any means I should run, or had run, in vain. 3 But neither Titus, who
was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: 4 And that
because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to
spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring
us into bondage: 5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an
hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. 6 But of
these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no
matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be
somewhat in conference added nothing to me: 7 But contrariwise, when
they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as
the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (For he that wrought
effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same
was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) 9 And when James, Cephas, and
John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto
me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we
should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. 10 Only they
would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was
forward to do.

Lesson Genesis 3
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast
of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman,
Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And
the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of
the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch
it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not
surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then
your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and
evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that
it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her
husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were
opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the
Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his
wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees
of the garden. 9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him,
Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I
was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who
told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I
commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The
woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did
eat. 13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou
hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this,
thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field;
upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of
thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and
between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt
bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy
sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children;
and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17
And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy
wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying,
Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow
shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and
thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of
the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou
return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou
art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 20 And Adam called his wife's name
Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to
his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them. 22 And
the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good
and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree
of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 Therefore the Lord God sent him
forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was
taken. 24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the
garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to
keep the way of the tree of life.

Lesson Mark 6:45
45 And straightway he constrained his disciples
to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida,
while he sent away the people. 46 And when he had sent them away, he
departed into a mountain to pray. 47 And when even was come, the ship
was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. 48 And he saw
them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about
the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea,
and would have passed by them. 49 But when they saw him walking upon the
sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: 50 For they all
saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and
saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. 51 And he
went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore
amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. 52 For they
considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret,
and drew to the shore. 54 And when they were come out of the ship,
straightway they knew him, 55 And ran through that whole region round
about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they
heard he was. 56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities,
or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that
they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many
as touched him were made whole.

Lesson Amos 3:
1 Hear this word that the Lord hath spoken
against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I
brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, 2 You only have I known of
all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your
iniquities. 3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed? 4 Will a
lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out
of his den, if he have taken nothing? 5 Can a bird fall in a snare upon
the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the
earth, and have taken nothing at all? 6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the
city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and
the Lord hath not done it? 7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he
revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. 8 The lion hath
roared, who will not fear? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but
prophesy? 9 Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the
land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of
Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the
oppressed in the midst thereof. 10 For they know not to do right, saith
the Lord, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces. 11
Therefore thus saith the Lord God; An adversary there shall be even
round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee,
and thy palaces shall be spoiled. 12 Thus saith the Lord; As the
shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an
ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria
in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch. 13 Hear ye, and
testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord God, the God of hosts, 14
That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him
I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall
be cut off, and fall to the ground. 15 And I will smite the winter house
with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the
great houses shall have an end, saith the Lord.

Lesson Galatians 2:11
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I
withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before
that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when
they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which
were of the circumcision. 13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with
him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their
dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly
according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all,
If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do
the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? 15 We
who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 Knowing that
a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of
Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be
justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for
by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But if, while we
seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is
therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. 18 For if I build
again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For
I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20 I
am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ
liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the
faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do
not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law,
then Christ is dead in vain.

Lesson Genesis 4:1-16
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived,
and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. 2 And she
again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain
was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass,
that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the
fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very
wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art
thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou doest well,
shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the
door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. 8
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they
were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew
him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he
said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast
thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the
ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her
mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest
the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a
fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13 And Cain said
unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou
hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy
face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the
earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall
slay me. 15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth
Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark
upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16 And Cain went out
from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east
of Eden.

Lesson Mark 7:1-13
1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and
certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. 2 And when they saw
some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with
unwashen, hands, they found fault. 3 For the Pharisees, and all the
Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition
of the elders. 4 And when they come from the market, except they wash,
they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received
to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of
tables. 5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy
disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with
unwashen hands? 6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me
with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do
they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For
laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as
the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that
ye may keep your own tradition. 10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and
thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban,
that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
he shall be free. 12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his
father or his mother; 13 Making the word of God of none effect through
your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do
ye.

Lesson Amos 4:4
4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal
multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and
your tithes after three years: 5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving
with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this
liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord God. 6 And I also
have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread
in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. 7
And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three
months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused
it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the
piece whereupon it rained not withered. 8 So two or three cities
wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet
have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. 9 I have smitten you with
blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig
trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet
have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. 10 I have sent among you
the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain
with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the
stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not
returned unto me, saith the Lord. 11 I have overthrown some of you, as
God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out
of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. 12
Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this
unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. 13 For, lo, he that
formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man
what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon
the high places of the earth, The Lord, The God of hosts, is his
name.

Lesson Galatians 3:1-9
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you,
that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath
been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn
of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the
hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are
ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in
vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the
Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the
law, or by the hearing of faith? 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it
was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they
which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the
scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith,
preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all
nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with
faithful Abraham.

Lesson Genesis 6:5-8, 13-22
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his
heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the Lord that he had
made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the Lord
said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth;
both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air;
for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the
eyes of the Lord.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh
is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them;
and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of
gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within
and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make
it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth
of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window
shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above;
and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower,
second, and third stories shalt thou make it. 17 And, behold, I, even I,
do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein
is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the
earth shall die. 18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou
shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons'
wives with thee. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every
sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they
shall be male and female. 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle
after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind,
two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 21 And take
thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to
thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22 Thus did Noah;
according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Lesson Mark 7:14-23
14 And when he had called all the people unto
him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and
understand: 15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into
him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they
that defile the man. 16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 17
And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples
asked him concerning the parable. 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so
without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing
from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it
entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the
draught, purging all meats? 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the
man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men,
proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts,
covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,
blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from
within, and defile the man.

Lesson Amos 5:1-13
1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you,
even a lamentation, O house of Israel. 2 The virgin of Israel is fallen;
she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to
raise her up. 3 For thus saith the Lord God; The city that went out by a
thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred
shall leave ten, to the house of Israel. 4 For thus saith the Lord unto
the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live: 5 But seek not
Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal
shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought. 6 Seek
the Lord, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of
Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel. 7 Ye
who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow
of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that
calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of
the earth: The Lord is his name: 9 That strengtheneth the spoiled
against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that
speaketh uprightly. 11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the
poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of
hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant
vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them. 12 For I know your
manifold transgressions, and your mighty sins: they afflict the just,
they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their
right. 13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it
is an evil time.

Lesson Galatians 3:10-18
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are
under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth
not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is
evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of
faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath
redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it
is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the
blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 15
Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's
covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth
thereto. 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith
not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is
Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before
of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years
after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but
God gave it to Abraham by promise.
