1st Lesson Ecclesiasticus (Wisdom of
Sirach) 1:1-10
1 All wisdom cometh from the Lord, and is with him for ever. 2 Who
can number the sand of the sea, and the drops of rain, and the days of
eternity? 3 Who can find out the height of heaven, and the breadth of
the earth, and the deep, and wisdom? 4 Wisdom hath been created before
all things, and the understanding of prudence from everlasting. 5 The
word of God most high is the fountain of wisdom; and her ways are
everlasting commandments. 6 To whom hath the root of wisdom been
revealed? or who hath known her wise counsels? 7 [Unto whom hath the
knowledge of wisdom been made manifest?] and who hath understood her
great experience? 8 There is one wise and greatly to be feared, the Lord
sitting upon his throne. 9 He created her, and saw her, and numbered
her, and poured her out upon all his works. 10 She is with all flesh
according to his gift, and he hath given her to them that love
him.

Lesson John 8:25-36
25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And
Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the
beginning. 26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that
sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have
heard of him. 27 They understood not that he spake to them of the
Father. 28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of
man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself;
but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 29 And he that
sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always
those things that please him. 30 As he spake these words, many believed
on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall
know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him,
We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest
thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I
say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the
servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Lesson Jeremiah 26:1-7, 10-15
1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the
son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the Lord, saying, 2 Thus
saith the Lord; Stand in the court of the Lord's house, and speak unto
all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the Lord's house, all
the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word: 3
If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I
may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of
the evil of their doings. 4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the
Lord; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set
before you, 5 To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom
I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not
hearkened; 6 Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this
city a curse to all the nations of the earth. 7 So the priests and the
prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the
house of the Lord.
10 When the princes of Judah heard these things,
then they came up from the king's house unto the house of the Lord, and
sat down in the entry of the new gate of the Lord's house. 11 Then spake
the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people,
saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this
city, as ye have heard with your ears. 12 Then spake Jeremiah unto all
the princes and to all the people, saying, The Lord sent me to prophesy
against this house and against this city all the words that ye have
heard. 13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the
voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will repent him of the evil
that he hath pronounced against you. 14 As for me, behold, I am in your
hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you. 15 But know ye for
certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent
blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants
thereof: for of a truth the Lord hath sent me unto you to speak all
these words in your ears.

Lesson Matthew 23:34
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets,
and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify;
and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them
from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood
shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the
altar. 36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this
generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets,
and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have
gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens
under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto
you desolate. 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth,
till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the
Lord.

Lesson Genesis 32:22-31
22 And he rose up that night, and took his two
wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over
the ford Jabbok. 23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and
sent over that he had. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a
man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he
prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the
hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26
And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not
let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy
name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no
more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and
with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me,
I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask
after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of
the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is
preserved. 31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he
halted upon his thigh.

Lesson 2 Corinthians 4:7
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are
troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in
despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that
the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 11 For we
which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life
also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 12 So then
death worketh in us, but life in you. 13 We having the same spirit of
faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I
spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; 14 Knowing that he which
raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall
present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the
abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the
glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward
man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light
affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more
exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the
things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the
things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
are eternal.

Lesson Isaiah 44:1-8, 21-23
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel,
whom I have chosen: 2 Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed
thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant;
and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen. 3 For I will pour water upon him
that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit
upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: 4 And they shall
spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses. 5 One
shall say, I am the Lord's; and another shall call himself by the name
of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the Lord, and
surname himself by the name of Israel. 6 Thus saith the Lord the King of
Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the
last; and beside me there is no God. 7 And who, as I, shall call, and
shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the
ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them
shew unto them. 8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee
from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there
a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
21 Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou
art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou
shalt not be forgotten of me. 22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud,
thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I
have redeemed thee. 23 Sing, O ye heavens; for the Lord hath done it:
shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye
mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the Lord hath redeemed
Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

Lesson Romans 12:1-9
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not
conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man
that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to
think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man
the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all
members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in
Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts
differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy,
let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 7 Or ministry, let
us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he
that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with
simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with
cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is
evil; cleave to that which is good.

Lesson Lamentations 1:1-12
1 How doth the city sit solitary, that was full
of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the
nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
2 She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks: among
all her lovers she hath none to comfort her: all her friends have dealt
treacherously with her, they are become her enemies. 3 Judah is gone
into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude:
she dwelleth among the heathen, she findeth no rest: all her persecutors
overtook her between the straits. 4 The ways of Zion do mourn, because
none come to the solemn feasts: all her gates are desolate: her priests
sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness. 5 Her
adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath
afflicted her for the multitude of her transgressions: her children are
gone into captivity before the enemy. 6 And from the daughter of Zion
all her beauty is departed: her princes are become like harts that find
no pasture, and they are gone without strength before the pursuer. 7
Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries
all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people
fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries
saw her, and did mock at her sabbaths. 8 Jerusalem hath grievously
sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her,
because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth
backward. 9 Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her
last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O
Lord, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself. 10 The
adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she
hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst
command that they should not enter into thy congregation. 11 All her
people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for
meat to relieve the soul: see, O Lord, and consider; for I am become
vile. 12 Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if
there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me,
wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.

Lesson Luke 19:41
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the
city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at
least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now
they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that
thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round,
and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the
ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee
one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy
visitation. 45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them
that sold therein, and them that bought; 46 Saying unto them, It is
written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of
thieves. 47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and
the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, 48 And
could not find what they might do: for all the people were very

Lesson 2 Samuel 1:17
1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul,
when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David
had abode two days in Ziklag; 2 It came even to pass on the third day,
that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes
rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David,
that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance. 3 And David said unto him,
From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel
am I escaped. 4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray
thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the
battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and
Jonathan his son are dead also. 5 And David said unto the young man that
told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead? 6 And
the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount
Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and
horsemen followed hard after him. 7 And when he looked behind him, he
saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I. 8 And he said
unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite. 9 He said
unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is
come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me. 10 So I stood upon
him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that
he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the
bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all
the men that were with him: 12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted
until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of
the Lord, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the
sword. 13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art
thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. 14 And
David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine
hand to destroy the Lord's anointed? 15 And David called one of the
young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that
he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy
mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's
anointed. 17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over
Jonathan his son:

Lesson Acts 14:8
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra,
impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never
had walked: 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him,
and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, 10 Said with a loud
voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. 11 And when
the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying
in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness
of men. 12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius,
because he was the chief speaker. 13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which
was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and
would have done sacrifice with the people. 14 Which when the apostles,
Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among
the people, crying out, 15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We
also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye
should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven,
and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: 16 Who in times
past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. 17 Nevertheless he
left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain
from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and
gladness. 18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people,
that they had not done sacrifice unto them. 19 And there came thither
certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and,
having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been
dead. 20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up,
and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to
Derbe. 21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had
taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue
in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God. 23 And when they had ordained them elders in every
church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on
whom they believed. 24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia,
they came to Pamphylia. 25 And when they had preached the word in Perga,
they went down into Attalia: 26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from
whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which
they fulfilled. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church
together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had
opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. 28 And there they abode long
time with the disciples.

Lesson I Samuel 18:1-9
1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end
of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul
of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 And Saul took him
that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house. 3
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own
soul. 4 And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and
gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow,
and to his girdle. 5 And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and
behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was
accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul's
servants. 6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned
from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all
cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets,
with joy, and with instruments of music. 7 And the women answered one
another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and
David his ten thousands. 8 And Saul was very wroth, and the saying
displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten
thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he
have more but the kingdom? 9 And Saul eyed David from that day and
forward.

Lesson Luke 19:29-40
29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to
Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent
two of his disciples, 30 Saying, Go ye into the village over against
you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon
yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. 31 And if any man
ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the
Lord hath need of him. 32 And they that were sent went their way, and
found even as he had said unto them. 33 And as they were loosing the
colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? 34 And
they said, The Lord hath need of him. 35 And they brought him to Jesus:
and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. 37 And when he
was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole
multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud
voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38 Saying, Blessed be
the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory
in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude
said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said
unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones
would immediately cry out.

Lesson Micah 4:1-8
1 But in the last days it shall come to pass,
that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the
top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and
people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come,
and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the
God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his
paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from
Jerusalem. 3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong
nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and
their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against
nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 4 But they shall sit
every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make
them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it. 5 For
all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk
in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever. 6 In that day, saith
the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that
is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; 7 And I will make her that
halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the
Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom
shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.

Lesson Romans 4:13
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir
of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but
through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law
be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace;
to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only
which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham;
who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a
father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who
quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though
they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become
the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall
thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own
body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the
deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God
through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And
being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to
perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him
that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for
our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Lesson I Samuel 20:1-7, 12-23
1 And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came
and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and
what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life? 2 And he said
unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do
nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why
should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so. 3 And David
sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found
grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he
be grieved: but truly as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there
is but a step between me and death. 4 Then said Jonathan unto David,
Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee. 5 And David
said unto Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not
fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself
in the field unto the third day at even. 6 If thy father at all miss me,
then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to
Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the
family. 7 If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but
if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
12 And Jonathan said unto David, O Lord God of
Israel, when I have sounded my father about tomorrow any time, or the
third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send
not unto thee, and shew it thee; 13 The Lord do so and much more to
Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew
it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the Lord
be with thee, as he hath been with my father. 14 And thou shalt not only
while yet I live shew me the kindness of the Lord, that I die not: 15
But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no,
not when the Lord hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the
face of the earth. 16 So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of
David, saying, Let the Lord even require it at the hand of David's
enemies. 17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved
him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul. 18 Then Jonathan said to
David, Tomorrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy
seat will be empty. 19 And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou
shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide
thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone
Ezel. 20 And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I
shot at a mark. 21 And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out
the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on
this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to
thee, and no hurt; as the Lord liveth. 22 But if I say thus unto the
young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the Lord
hath sent thee away. 23 And as touching the matter which thou and I have
spoken of, behold, the Lord be between thee and me for ever.

days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel,
the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders, 2 And
spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these
things? or who is he that gave thee this authority? 3 And he answered
and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: 4 The
baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? 5 And they reasoned with
themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then
believed ye him not? 6 But and if we say, Of men; all the people will
stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. 7 And they
answered, that they could not tell whence it was. 8 And Jesus said unto
them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

Lesson Micah 4:9. 5:1
9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no
king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a
woman in travail. 10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter
of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the
city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to
Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the Lord shall redeem thee
from the hand of thine enemies. 11 Now also many nations are gathered
against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon
Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand
they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the
floor. 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine
horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in
pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and
their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of
troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of
Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

Lesson Romans 5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have
access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of
the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also:
knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience;
and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of
God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto
us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for
the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet
peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood,
we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were
enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more,
being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but
we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now
received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the
world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all
have sinned: 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not
imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to
Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's
transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 15 But not as
the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one
many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which
is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as it
was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to
condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they
which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall
reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore as by the offence of
one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the
righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification
of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so
by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20 Moreover the
law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded,
grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even
so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus
Christ our Lord.

Lesson I Samuel 20:24-29
24 So David hid himself in the field: and when
the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat. 25 And the
king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall:
and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was
empty. 26 Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he
thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not
clean. 27 And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of
the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his
son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday,
nor today? 28 And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of
me to go to Bethlehem: 29 And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our
family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded
me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me
get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto
the king's table. 30 Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and
he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I
know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and
unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness? 31 For as long as the son
of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy
kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely
die. 32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him,
Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done? 33 And Saul cast a
javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was
determined of his father to slay David. 34 So Jonathan arose from the
table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month:
for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame. 35
And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the
field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him. 36
And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot.
And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him. 37 And when the lad was
come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried
after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee? 38 And Jonathan
cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad
gathered up the arrows, and came to his master. 39 But the lad knew not
any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

Lesson Luke 20:9-26
9 Then began he to speak to the people this
parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to
husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time. 10 And at the
season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of
the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him
away empty. 11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him
also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty. 12 And
again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out. 13
Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my
beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him. 14 But
when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying,
This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be
ours. 15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What
therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them? 16 He shall come
and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And
when they heard it, they said, God forbid. 17 And he beheld them, and
said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders
rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? 18 Whosoever shall
fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall,
it will grind him to powder. 19 And the chief priests and the scribes
the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people:
for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. 20 And
they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves
just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might
deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. 21 And they
asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest
rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way
of God truly: 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye
me? 24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They
answered and said, Caesar's. 25 And he said unto them, Render therefore
unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which
be God's. 26 And they could not take hold of his words before the
people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

Lesson Micah 6:1-8
1 Hear ye now what the Lord saith; Arise,
contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice. 2
Hear ye, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and ye strong foundations
of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he
will plead with Israel. 3 O my people, what have I done unto thee? and
wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me. 4 For I brought thee up
out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of
servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. 5 O my
people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam
the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know
the righteousness of the Lord. 6 Wherewith shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt
offerings, with calves of a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with
thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give
my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of
my soul? 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the
Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk
humbly with thy God?

lesson Romans 6
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in
sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to
sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were
baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we
are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together
in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his
resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not
serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead
with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that
Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more
dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in
that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus
Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your
members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves
unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as
instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have
dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under
grace? God forbid. 16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves
servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin
unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 17 But God be thanked,
that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that
form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from
sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. 19 I speak after the
manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have
yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto
iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto
holiness. 20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from
righteousness. 21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are
now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. 22 But now being made
free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto
holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our
Lord.

Lesson I Samuel 22:6
6 When Saul heard that David was discovered, and
the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in
Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing
about him;) 7 Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him,
Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you
fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and
captains of hundreds; 8 That all of you have conspired against me, and
there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the
son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth
unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in
wait, as at this day? 9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set
over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to
Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub. 10 And he inquired of the Lord for
him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the
Philistine. 11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son
of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and
they came all of them to the king. 12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son
of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord. 13 And Saul said unto
him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in
that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God
for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful
among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and
goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house? 15 Did I then
begin to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king
impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father:
for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more. 16 And the king
said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's
house. 17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn,
and slay the priests of the Lord; because their hand also is with David,
and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the
servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the
priests of the Lord. 18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall
upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the
priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a
linen ephod. 19 And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge
of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and
asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword. 20 And one of the sons of
Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after
David. 21 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the Lord's
priests. 22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg
the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned
the death of all the persons of thy father's house. 23 Abide thou with
me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me
thou shalt be in safeguard.

Lesson Luke 20:27-40
27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees,
which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, 28
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a
wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his
wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore seven
brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And
the second took her to wife, and he died childless. 31 And the third
took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children,
and died. 32 Last of all the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the
resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. 34
And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry,
and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy
to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry,
nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they
are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the
children of the resurrection. 37 Now that the dead are raised, even
Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham,
and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of
the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. 39 Then certain of
the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. 40 And after
that they durst not ask him any question at all.

Lesson Micah 6:9
9 The Lord's voice crieth unto the city, and the
man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath
appointed it. 10 Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house
of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable? 11 Shall I
count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful
weights? 12 For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the
inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in
their mouth. 13 Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in
making thee desolate because of thy sins. 14 Thou shalt eat, but not be
satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou
shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest
will I give up to the sword. 15 Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap;
thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil;
and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine. 16 For the statutes of Omri
are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their
counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants
thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my
people.

Lesson Romans 7:1-13
1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them
that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as
he liveth? 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to
her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is
loosed from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband
liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an
adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so
that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. 4
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body
of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is
raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. 5 For
when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law,
did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 6 But now we
are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that
we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the
letter. 7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had
not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law
had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the
commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the
law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the
commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which
was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking
occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12
Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin,
that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good;
that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Lesson I Samuel 23:7-18
7 And it was told Saul that David was come to
Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is
shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. 8 And Saul
called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege
David and his men. 9 And David knew that Saul secretly practised
mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither
the ephod. 10 Then said David, O Lord God of Israel, thy servant hath
certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city
for my sake. 11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will
Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Lord God of Israel, I
beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down. 12
Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the
hand of Saul? And the Lord said, They will deliver thee up. 13 Then
David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out
of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul
that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. 14 And
David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a
mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but
God delivered him not into his hand. 15 And David saw that Saul was come
out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and
strengthened his hand in God. 17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the
hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over
Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father
knoweth. 18 And they two made a covenant before the Lord: and David
abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

Lesson Luke 20:41. 21:4
41 And he said unto them, How say they that
Christ is David's son? 42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms,
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 43 Till I make
thine enemies thy footstool. 44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is
he then his son? 45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto
his disciples, 46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long
robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the
synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; 47 Which devour widows'
houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater
damnation.
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting
their gifts into the treasury. 2 And he saw also a certain poor widow
casting in thither two mites. 3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you,
that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: 4 For all these
have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of
her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

Lesson Micah 7:1-9
1 Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered
the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no
cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. 2 The good man is
perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all
lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. 3
That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and
the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his
mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. 4 The best of them is as a
brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy
watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. 5
Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the
doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. 6 For the son
dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the
daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men
of his own house. 7 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for
the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. 8 Rejoice not against me,
O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the
Lord shall be a light unto me. 9 I will bear the indignation of the
Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and
execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I
shall behold his righteousness.

Lesson Romans 7:14
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I
am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what
I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that
which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then
it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know
that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will
is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that
I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but
sin that dwelleth in me. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do
good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after
the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against
the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin
which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver
me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our
Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the
flesh the law of sin.

Lesson I Samuel 28:3-19
3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had
lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul
had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of
the land. 4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came
and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they
pitched in Gilboa. 5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he
was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. 6 And when Saul inquired of
the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor
by prophets. 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that
hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And
his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar
spirit at Endor. 8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment,
and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night:
and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and
bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. 9 And the woman said unto
him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those
that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore
then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? 10 And Saul
sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no
punishment happen to thee for this thing. 11 Then said the woman, Whom
shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 12 And when
the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake
to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 13 And
the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the
woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. 14 And he
said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up;
and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel,
and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 15 And
Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And
Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war
against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more,
neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that
thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 16 Then said Samuel,
Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the Lord is departed from
thee, and is become thine enemy? 17 And the Lord hath done to him, as he
spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and
given it to thy neighbour, even to David: 18 Because thou obeyedst not
the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek,
therefore hath the Lord done this thing unto thee this day. 19 Moreover
the Lord will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the
Philistines: and tomorrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the Lord
also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the
Philistines.

Lesson Luke 21:5-19
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was
adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said, 6 As for these things
which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be
left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 7 And they
asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign
will there be when these things shall come to pass? 8 And he said, Take
heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I
am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. 9
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for
these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by. 10
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and
famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there
be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on
you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into
prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. 13
And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14 Settle it therefore in your
hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give
you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to
gainsay nor resist. 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and
brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause
to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's
sake. 18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19 In your
patience possess ye your souls.

Lesson Micah 7:14
14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of
thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of
Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old. 15
According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew
unto him marvellous things. 16 The nations shall see and be confounded
at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their
ears shall be deaf. 17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they
shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be
afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of thee. 18 Who is a
God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the
transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger
for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. 19 He will turn again, he will
have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt
cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. 20 Thou wilt perform the
truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our
fathers from the days of old.

Lesson Romans 8:1-17
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me
free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in
that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the
likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the
flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the
Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death;
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal
mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot
please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be
that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit
of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is
dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in
you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your
mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore,
brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the
Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many
as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye
have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children
of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs
with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.
