1st Lesson Isaiah 26:12-16, 19
12 Lord, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought
all our works in us. 13 O Lord our God, other lords beside thee have had
dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name. 14
They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not
rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their
memory to perish. 15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord, thou hast
increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto
all the ends of the earth. 16 Lord, in trouble have they visited thee,
they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.
19
Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise.
Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of
herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

2nd Lesson Romans 8:26
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not
what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of
God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For
whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the
image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he
called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also
glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us,
who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered
him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all
things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is
God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that
died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of
God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from
the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy
sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the
slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other
creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lesson Job 5:8-18
8 I would seek unto God, and unto God would I
commit my cause: 9 Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous
things without number: 10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth
waters upon the fields: 11 To set up on high those that be low; that
those which mourn may be exalted to safety. 12 He disappointeth the
devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their
enterprise. 13 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the
counsel of the froward is carried headlong. 14 They meet with darkness
in the daytime, and grope in the noonday as in the night. 15 But he
saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of
the mighty. 16 So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not
thou the chastening of the Almighty: 18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth
up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

Lesson Matthew 23:13-31
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye
neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go
in. 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour
widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall
receive the greater damnation. 15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when
he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by
the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the
temple, he is a debtor! 17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater,
the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? 18 And, Whosoever
shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the
gift that is upon it, he is guilty. 19 Ye fools and blind: for whether
is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? 20 Whoso
therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things
thereon. 21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by
him that dwelleth therein. 22 And he that shall swear by heaven,
sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. 23 Woe
unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint
and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law,
judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to
leave the other undone. 24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and
swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they
are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first
that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may
be clean also. 27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful
outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all
uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but
within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29 Woe unto you, scribes
and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets,
and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30 And say, If we had been
in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them
in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto
yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the
prophets.

Lesson Genesis 37:3-4, 12-35
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his
children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat
of many colours. 4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him
more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak
peaceably unto him.
12 And his brethren went to feed their father's
flock in Shechem. 13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren
feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he
said to him, Here am I. 14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see
whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and
bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he
came to Shechem. 15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was
wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest
thou? 16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where
they feed their flocks. 17 And the man said, They are departed hence;
for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his
brethren, and found them in Dothan. 18 And when they saw him afar off,
even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay
him. 19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. 20
Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and
we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what
will become of his dreams. 21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him
out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him. 22 And Reuben said
unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the
wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their
hands, to deliver him to his father again. 23 And it came to pass when
Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his
coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; 24 And they took him,
and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in
it. 25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and
looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with
their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down
to Egypt. 26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we
slay our brother, and conceal his blood? 27 Come, and let us sell him to
the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother
and our flesh. And his brethren were content. 28 Then there passed by
Midianites, merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the
pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and
they brought Joseph into Egypt. 29 And Reuben returned unto the pit;
and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes. 30 And
he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I,
whither shall I go? 31 And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of
the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood; 32 And they sent the coat
of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This
have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no. 33 And he
knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him;
Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces. 34 And Jacob rent his clothes,
and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days. 35
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he
refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave
unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.

Lesson James 1:1-15
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus
Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 My
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let
patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given
him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth
is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not
that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double
minded man is unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother of low degree
rejoice in that he is exalted: 10 But the rich, in that he is made low:
because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is
no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the
flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so
also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed is the man
that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the
crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot
be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is
tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then
when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is
finished, bringeth forth death.

Lesson Ecclesiasticus
(Wisdom of Sirach) 35:10-19
10 Give unto the most High according as he hath
enriched thee; and as thou hast gotten, give with a cheerful eye. 11 For
the Lord recompenseth, and will give thee seven times as much. 12 Do not
think to corrupt with gifts; for such he will not receive: and trust not
to unrighteous sacrifices; for the Lord is judge, and with him is no
respect of persons. 13 He will not accept any person against a poor man,
but will hear the prayer of the oppressed. 14 He will not despise the
supplication of the fatherless; nor the widow, when she poureth out her
complaint. 15 Do not the tears run down the widow's cheeks? and is not
her cry against him that causeth them to fall? 16 He that serveth the
Lord shall be accepted with favour, and his prayer shall reach unto the
clouds. 17 The prayer of the humble pierceth the clouds: and till it
come nigh, he will not be comforted; and will not depart, till the most
High shall behold to judge righteously, and execute judgment. 18 For the
Lord will not be slack, neither will the Mighty be patient toward them,
till he have smitten in sunder the loins of the unmerciful, and repayed
vengeance to the heathen; till he have taken away the multitude of the
proud, and broken the sceptre of the unrighteous; 19 Till he have
rendered to every man according to his deeds, and to the works of men
according to their devices; till he have judged the cause of his people,
and made them to rejoice in his mercy.

Lesson Mark 12:38
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware
of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations
in the marketplaces, 39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the
uppermost rooms at feasts: 40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a
pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation. 41
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast
money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. 42 And
there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make
a farthing. 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto
them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in,
than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did
cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she
had, even all her living.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 5:1-7
1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of
God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for
they consider not that they do evil. 2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and
let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is
in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. 3 For a
dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is
known by multitude of words. 4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer
not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou
hast vowed. 5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou
shouldest vow and not pay. 6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to
sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore
should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? 7
For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers
vanities: but fear thou God.

Lesson Luke 18:9-14
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which
trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the
other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself,
God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust,
adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I
give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar
off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon
his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this
man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every
one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself
shall be exalted.

Lesson 2 Samuel 7:18
18 Then went king David in, and sat before the
Lord, and he said, Who am I, O Lord God? and what is my house, that thou
hast brought me hitherto? 19 And this was yet a small thing in thy
sight, O Lord God; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for
a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord God? 20 And
what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord God, knowest thy
servant. 21 For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast
thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them. 22
Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee,
neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have
heard with our ears. 23 And what one nation in the earth is like thy
people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to
himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and
terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee
from Egypt, from the nations and their gods? 24 For thou hast confirmed
to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and
thou, Lord, art become their God. 25 And now, O Lord God, the word that
thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house,
establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said. 26 And let thy name be
magnified for ever, saying, The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel:
and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee. 27
For thou, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant,
saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in
his heart to pray this prayer unto thee. 28 And now, O Lord God, thou
art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this
goodness unto thy servant: 29 Therefore now let it please thee to bless
the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for
thou, O Lord God, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of
thy servant be blessed for ever.

Lesson Acts 15:1-21
1 And certain men which came down from Judaea
taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner
of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no
small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul
and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto
the apostles and elders about this question. 3 And being brought on
their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria,
declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto
all the brethren. 4 And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were
received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they
declared all things that God had done with them. 5 But there rose up
certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was
needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of
Moses. 6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of
this matter. 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up,
and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago
God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the
word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts,
bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9
And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by
faith. 10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of
the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11
But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall
be saved, even as they. 12 Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave
audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God
had wrought among the Gentiles by them. 13 And after they had held their
peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me: 14
Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to
take out of them a people for his name. 15 And to this agree the words
of the prophets; as it is written, 16 After this I will return, and will
build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will
build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: 17 That the residue
of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my
name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. 18 Known
unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. 19 Wherefore
my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles
are turned to God: 20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain
from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things
strangled, and from blood. 21 For Moses of old time hath in every city
them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath
day.

Lesson I Samuel:31
1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and
the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain
in mount Gilboa. 2 And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon
his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and
Melchishua, Saul's sons. 3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and
the archers hit him; and he was sore wounded of the archers. 4 Then said
Saul unto his armour-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through
therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and thrust me through, and
abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not; for he was sore afraid.
Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it. 5 And when his
armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword,
and died with him. 6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and his
armour-bearer, and all his men, that same day together. 7 And when the
men of Israel that were on the other side of the valley, and they that
were on the other side Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that
Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the
Philistines came and dwelt in them. 8 And it came to pass on the morrow,
when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and
his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa. 9 And they cut off his head, and
stripped off his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round
about, to publish it in the house of their idols, and among the people.
10 And they put his armour in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened
his body to the wall of Bethshan. 11 And when the inhabitants of
Jabeshgilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul; 12
All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul
and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to
Jabesh, and burnt them there. 13 And they took their bones, and buried
them under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

Lesson Luke 21:20
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed
with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let
them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are
in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the
countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that
all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe unto them that
are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there
shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And
they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive
into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles,
until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 25 And there shall be
signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth
distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things
which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power
and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then
look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. 29
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that
summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things
come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily
I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be
fulfilled. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not
pass away. 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts
be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life,
and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come
on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye
therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape
all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of
man. 37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night
he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple,
for to hear him.

Lesson Nahum 1:3-8, 15
3 The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power,
and will not at all acquit the wicked: the Lord hath his way in the
whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 4
He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers:
Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. 5
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned
at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 6 Who can
stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his
anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down
by him. 7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he
knoweth them that trust in him. 8 But with an overrunning flood he will
make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his
enemies.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him
that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy
solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass
through thee; he is utterly cut off.

Lesson Romans 8:18-27
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present
time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth
for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made
subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath
subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be
delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of
the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and
travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but
ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we
ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the
redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is
seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But
if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. 26
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what
we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,

God.

Lesson 2 Samuel 1:1-16
1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul,
when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David
had abode two days in Ziklag; 2 It came even to pass on the third day,
that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes
rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David,
that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance. 3 And David said unto him,
From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel
am I escaped. 4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray
thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the
battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and
Jonathan his son are dead also. 5 And David said unto the young man that
told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead? 6 And
the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount
Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and
horsemen followed hard after him. 7 And when he looked behind him, he
saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I. 8 And he said
unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite. 9 He said
unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is
come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me. 10 So I stood upon
him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that
he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the
bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all
the men that were with him: 12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted
until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of
the Lord, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the
sword. 13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art
thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. 14 And
David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine
hand to destroy the Lord's anointed? 15 And David called one of the
young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that
he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy
mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's
anointed.

Lesson Luke 22:1-13
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh,
which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought
how they might kill him; for they feared the people. 3 Then entered
Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4
And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains,
how he might betray him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted
to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray
him unto them in the absence of the multitude. 7 Then came the day of
unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed. 8 And he sent Peter
and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. 9 And
they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10 And he said unto
them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet
you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he
entereth in. 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The
Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the
passover with my disciples? 12 And he shall shew you a large upper room
furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went, and found as he had said
unto them: and they made ready the passover.

Lesson Nahum 2
1 He that dasheth in pieces is come up before
thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong,
fortify thy power mightily. 2 For the Lord hath turned away the
excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have
emptied them out, and marred their vine branches. 3 The shield of his
mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots
shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir
trees shall be terribly shaken. 4 The chariots shall rage in the
streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they
shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings. 5 He shall
recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make
haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared. 6 The
gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her
maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their
breasts. 8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall
flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back. 9
Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none
end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture. 10 She is
empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite
together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all
gather blackness. 11 Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the
feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion,
walked, and the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid? 12 The lion did
tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses,
and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin. 13 Behold, I am
against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in
the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut
off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no
more be heard.

Lesson Romans 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for
good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his
purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also
called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he
justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these
things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not
his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him
also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge
of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth?
It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at
the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or
persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is
written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted
as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor
things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any
other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which
is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lesson 2 Samuel 1:17
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over
Saul and over Jonathan his son: 18 (Also he bade them teach the children
of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of
Jasher.) 19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are
the mighty fallen! 20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets
of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the
daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. 21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let
there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of
offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the
shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil. 22 From the
blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan
turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty. 23 Saul and
Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death
they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger
than lions. 24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you
in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your
apparel. 25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O
Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places. 26 I am distressed for
thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy
love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. 27 How are the
mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!

Lesson Luke 22:14-30
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and
the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, With desire I
have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say
unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the
kingdom of God. 17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take
this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not
drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them,
saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance
of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the
new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 21 But, behold, the
hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And truly the
Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he
is betrayed! 23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of
them it was that should do this thing. 24 And there was also a strife
among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. 25 And he
said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them;
and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26
But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as
the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. 27 For whether
is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that
sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. 28 Ye are they
which have continued with me in my temptations. 29 And I appoint unto
you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30 That ye may eat
and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the
twelve tribes of Israel.

Lesson Nahum 3
1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies
and robbery; the prey departeth not; 2 The noise of a whip, and the
noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the prancing horses, and of
the jumping chariots. 3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword
and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great
number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble
upon their corpses: 4 Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the
wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations
through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts. 5 Behold, I
am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts
upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the
kingdoms thy shame. 6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and
make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock. 7 And it shall come
to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and
say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek
comforters for thee? 8 Art thou better than populous No, that was
situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose
rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea? 9 Ethiopia and Egypt
were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
10 Yet was she carried away, she went into captivity: her young children
also were dashed in pieces at the top of all the streets: and they cast
lots for her honourable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.
11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek
strength because of the enemy. 12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig
trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall
into the mouth of the eater. 13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee
are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine
enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars. 14 Draw thee waters for the
siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the mortar,
make strong the brickkiln. 15 There shall the fire devour thee; the
sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make
thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts. 16
Thou hast multiplied thy merchants above the stars of heaven: the
cankerworm spoileth, and flieth away. 17 Thy crowned are as the locusts,
and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in
the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place
is not known where they are. 18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of
Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered
upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them. 19 There is no healing of
thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall
clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed
continually?

Lesson Romans 9:1-5, 14-24, 30-33
1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my
conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 That I have
great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish
that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen
according to the flesh: 4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the
adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law,
and the service of God, and the promises; 5 Whose are the fathers, and
of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God
blessed for ever. Amen.
14 What shall we say then? Is there
unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will
have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom
I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of
him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 17 For the scripture
saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up,
that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared
throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will
have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 19 Thou wilt say then unto
me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20 Nay
but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing
formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath
not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel
unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew
his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering
the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make
known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had
afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the
Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles,
which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness,
even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed
after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of
righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as
it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that
stumblingstone; 33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a
stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall
not be ashamed.

Lesson 2 Samuel 4:1,5, 7-12
1 And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead
in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were
troubled.
5 And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab
and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of
Ish-bosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
7 For when they came into the house, he lay on
his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and
beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain all
night. 8 And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron,
and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul
thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the Lord hath avenged my lord
the king this day of Saul, and of his seed. 9 And David answered Rechab
and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto
them, As the Lord liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all
adversity, 10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking
to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in
Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his
tidings: 11 How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person
in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his
blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth? 12 And David
commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and
their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took
the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in
Hebron.

Lesson Luke 22:31-46
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold,
Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I
have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art
converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am
ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34 And he said, I
tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou
shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. 35 And he said unto them, When I
sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And
they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a
purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no
sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you,
that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was
reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an
end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said
unto them, It is enough. 39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont,
to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 40 And when
he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into
temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and
kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove
this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And
there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And
being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were
great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up
from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for
sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye
enter into temptation.

Lesson Habakkuk 1:2-4, 12. 2:4
2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt
not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! 3
Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for
spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife
and contention. 4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never
go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore
wrong judgment proceedeth.
12 Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God,
mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for
judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on
iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and
holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more
righteous than he? 14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the
creeping things, that have no ruler over them? 15 They take up all of
them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in
their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. 16 Therefore they
sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by
them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. 17 Shall they
therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the
nations?
1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon
the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I
shall answer when I am reproved. 2 And the Lord answered me, and said,
Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that
readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the
end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because
it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4 Behold, his soul which is
lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his
faith.

Lesson Romans 10
1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God
for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that
they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they
being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish
their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness to every one that believeth. 5 For Moses describeth the
righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things
shall live by them. 6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh
on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven?
(that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7 Or, Who shall descend into
the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8 But what
saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart:
that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever
believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference
between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto
all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they
have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have
not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall
they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are
the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings
of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias
saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, Have they not
heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words
unto the ends of the world. 19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First
Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people,
and by a foolish nation I will anger you. 20 But Esaias is very bold,
and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest
unto them that asked not after me. 21 But to Israel he saith, All day
long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying
people.

Lesson 2 Samuel 5:1-10
1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David
unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2
Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest
out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed
my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel. 3 So all the
elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a
league with them in Hebron before the Lord: and they anointed David king
over Israel. 4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he
reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and
six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all
Israel and Judah. 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the
Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying,
Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in
hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither. 7 Nevertheless David took
the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David. 8 And David said
on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the
Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David's soul,
he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the
lame shall not come into the house. 9 So David dwelt in the fort, and
called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and
inward. 10 And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts
was with him.

Lesson Luke 22:47-62
47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude,
and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and
drew near unto Jesus to kiss him. 48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas,
betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss? 49 When they which were about
him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with
the sword? 50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and
cut off his right ear. 51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus
far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said unto the
chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were
come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands
against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness. 54 Then
took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's
house. And Peter followed afar off. 55 And when they had kindled a fire
in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down
among them. 56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and
earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him. 57 And
he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. 58 And after a little
while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said,
Man, I am not. 59 And about the space of one hour after another
confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him:
for he is a Galilaean. 60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou
sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. 61 And the
Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the
Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me
thrice. 62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

9 Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness
to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered
from the power of evil! 10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by
cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul. 11 For the
stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall
answer it. 12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and
stablisheth a city by iniquity! 13 Behold, is it not of the Lord of
hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people
shall weary themselves for very vanity? 14 For the earth shall be filled
with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the
sea.
19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake;
to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with

Lesson Romans 11:1-21
1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God
forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe
of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot
ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to
God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and
digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself
seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to
the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works:
otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no
more grace: otherwise work is no more work. 7 What then? Israel hath not
obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it,
and the rest were blinded 8 (According as it is written, God hath given
them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that
they should not hear;) unto this day. 9 And David saith, Let their table
be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto
them: 10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down
their back alway. 11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should
fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto
the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the fall of
them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches
of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? 13 For I speak to you
Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine
office: 14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my
flesh, and might save some of them. 15 For if the casting away of them
be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be,
but life from the dead? 16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is
also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. 17 And if some
of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert
graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness
of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast,
thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The
branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because
of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not
highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also spare not thee.

Lesson 2 Samuel 6:1-11
1 Again, David gathered together all the chosen
men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose, and went with all the
people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence
the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the Lord of hosts
that dwelleth between the cherubims. 3 And they set the ark of God upon
a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in
Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart. 4
And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah,
accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark. 5 And David
and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of
instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on
timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals. 6 And when they came to
Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and
took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. 7 And the anger of the Lord was
kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there
he died by the ark of God. 8 And David was displeased, because the Lord
had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place
Perez-uzzah to this day. 9 And David was afraid of the Lord that day,
and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me? 10 So David would
not remove the ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David: but
David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. 11 And
the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three
months: and the Lord blessed Obededom, and all his household.

Lesson Luke 22:63. 23:12
63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and
smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the
face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65 And
many other things blasphemously spake they against him. 66 And as soon
as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the
scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 Art
thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will
not believe: 68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me
go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power
of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said
unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further
witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
1 And the whole multitude of them arose, and led
him unto Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this
fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar,
saying that he himself is Christ a King. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying,
Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest
it. 4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no
fault in this man. 5 And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth
up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to
this place. 6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man
were a Galilaean. 7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's
jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at
that time. 8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was
desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things
of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. 9 Then he
questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. 10 And
the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. 11 And
Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed
him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. 12 And the same
day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at
enmity between themselves.

Lesson Habakkuk 3:2-6, 10-13, 18-19a
2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was
afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst
of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. 3 God came from Teman,
and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise. 4 And his brightness was as the
light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of
his power. 5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went
forth at his feet. 6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and
drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered,
the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.
10 The mountains saw thee, and they trembled:
the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and
lifted up his hands on high. 11 The sun and moon stood still in their
habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining
of thy glittering spear. 12 Thou didst march through the land in
indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger. 13 Thou wentest
forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine
anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by
discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in
the God of my salvation. 19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will
make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine
high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Lesson Romans 11:22
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of
God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou
continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23 And
they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for
God is able to graff them in again. 24 For if thou wert cut out of the
olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature
into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural
branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? 25 For I would not,
brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be
wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel,
until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall
be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer,
and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant
unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 28 As concerning the
gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election,
they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling of
God are without repentance. 30 For as ye in times past have not believed
God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have
these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may
obtain mercy. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he
might have mercy upon all. 33 O the depth of the riches both of the
wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his
ways past finding out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or
who hath been his counsellor? 35 Or who hath first given to him, and it
shall be recompensed unto him again? 36 For of him, and through him, and
to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
