1st Lesson 2 Samuel 19:16-23
16 And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, which was of Bahurim,
hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet king David. 17 And
there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him, and Ziba the servant of
the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with
him; and they went over Jordan before the king. 18 And there went over a
ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought
good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was
come over Jordan; 19 And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute
iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did
perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the
king should take it to his heart. 20 For thy servant doth know that I
have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the
house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king. 21 But Abishai the
son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for
this, because he cursed the Lord's anointed? 22 And David said, What
have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be
adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in
Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel? 23
Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king
sware unto him.

Lesson Matthew 5:38
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye
for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 But I say unto you, That ye
resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn
to him the other also. 40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and
take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. 41 And whosoever shall
compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42 Give to him that asketh
thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43 Ye
have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and
hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them
that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children
of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the
evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46
For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the
publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye
more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore
perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Lesson Isaiah 57:13b-19
13 When thou criest, let thy companies deliver
thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them:
but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall
inherit my holy mountain; 14 And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up,
prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose
name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is
of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and
to revive the heart of the contrite ones. 16 For I will not contend for
ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before
me, and the souls which I have made. 17 For the iniquity of his
covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he
went on frowardly in the way of his heart. 18 I have seen his ways, and
will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and
to his mourners. 19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him
that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the Lord; and I will
heal him.

Lesson 2 Timothy 2:7-13
7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee
understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of
David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9 Wherein I
suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is
not bound. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that
they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal
glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall
also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we
deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth
faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Lesson Genesis 18:1-16
1 And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains
of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he
lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when
he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself
toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in
thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little
water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves
under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye
your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to
your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham
hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three
measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. 7 And
Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave
it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8 And he took butter,
and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and
he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. 9 And they said unto
him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. 10 And
he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of
life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in
the tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old
and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the
manner of women. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying,
After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13
And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall
I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for
the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to
the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 15 Then Sarah denied,
saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou
didst laugh. 16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward
Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.

Lesson Romans 4:13
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir
of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but
through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law
be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace;
to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only
which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham;
who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a
father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who
quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though
they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become
the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall
thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own
body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the
deadness of Sarah's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God
through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And
being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to
perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him
that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for
our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Lesson Exodus 24:1-11, 16-18
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord,
thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel;
and worship ye afar off. 2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but
they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him. 3 And
Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the
judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the
words which the Lord hath said will we do. 4 And Moses wrote all the
words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an
altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes
of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which
offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the
Lord. 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half
of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the book of the
covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All
that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient. 8 And Moses took
the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of
the covenant which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these
words. 9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of
the elders of Israel: 10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was
under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it
were the body of heaven in his clearness. 11 And upon the nobles of the
children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat
and drink.
16 And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount
Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called
unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 And the sight of the glory
of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes
of the children of Israel. 18 And Moses went into the midst of the
cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty
days and forty nights.

Lesson Hebrews 9:18
18 Whereupon neither the first testament was
dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to
all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of
goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the
book, and all the people, 20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament
which God hath enjoined unto you. 21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood
both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And almost
all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of
blood is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns
of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly
things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ is
not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures
of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of
God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high
priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:
but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by
the sacrifice of himself. 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to
die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear
the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the
second time without sin unto salvation.

Lesson Genesis 4:1-16
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived,
and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. 2 And she
again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain
was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass,
that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the
fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: 5
But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very
wroth, and his countenance fell. 6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art
thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou doest well,
shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the
door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. 8
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they
were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew
him. 9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he
said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper? 10 And he said, What hast
thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the
ground. 11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her
mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; 12 When thou tillest
the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a
fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. 13 And Cain said
unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou
hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy
face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the
earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall
slay me. 15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth
Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark
upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16 And Cain went out
from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east
of Eden.

Lesson Matthew 5:20-26
20 For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. 21 Ye
have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill;
and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I
say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause
shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his
brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall
say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. 23 Therefore if thou
bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath
ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy
way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy
gift. 25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way
with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and
the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26
Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till
thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

Lesson 1 Samuel 16:1-13
1 And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt
thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over
Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the
Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons. 2 And Samuel
said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the Lord said,
Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord. 3
And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt
do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee. 4 And
Samuel did that which the Lord spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the
elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou
peaceably? 5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the
Lord: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he
sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice. 6 And
it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said,
Surely the Lord's anointed is before him. 7 But the Lord said unto
Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man
looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 8
Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he
said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. 9 Then Jesse made Shammah to
pass by. And he said, Neither hath the Lord chosen this. 10 Again, Jesse
made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto
Jesse, The Lord hath not chosen these. 11 And Samuel said unto Jesse,
Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the
youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse,
Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. 12 And
he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful
countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint
him: for this is he. 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed
him in the midst of his brethren: and the spirit of the Lord came upon
David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

Lesson Acts 11:1-18
1 And the apostles and brethren that were in
Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. 2 And
when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision
contended with him, 3 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and
didst eat with them. 4 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the
beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, 5 I was in the
city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel
descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four
corners; and it came even to me: 6 Upon the which when I had fastened
mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and
wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. 7 And I heard a
voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. 8 But I said, Not so,
Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my
mouth. 9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath
cleansed, that call not thou common. 10 And this was done three times:
and all were drawn up again into heaven. 11 And, behold, immediately
there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from
Caesarea unto me. 12 And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing
doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered
into the man's house: 13 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in
his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call
for Simon, whose surname is Peter; 14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby
thou and all thy house shall be saved. 15 And as I began to speak, the
Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16 Then remembered I
the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water;
but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17 Forasmuch then as God
gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord
Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? 18 When they heard
these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then
hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying
before the Lord, that Eli marked her mouth. 13 Now Hannah, she spake in
her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore
Eli thought she had been drunken. 14 And Eli said unto her, How long
wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 15 And Hannah
answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I
have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul
before the Lord. 16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial:
for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken
hitherto. 17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of
Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. 18 And she
said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her
way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. 19 And they rose
up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned,
and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and

his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.

37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought

the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before
dinner. 39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean
the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of
ravening and wickedness. 40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is
without make that which is within also? 41 But rather give alms of such
things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. 42 But
woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of
herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to
have done, and not to leave the other undone. 43 Woe unto you,
Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and
greetings in the markets. 44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk
over them are not aware of them. 45 Then answered one of the lawyers,
and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. 46 And
he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens
grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one
of your fingers. 47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the
prophets, and your fathers killed them. 48 Truly ye bear witness that ye
allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye
build their sepulchres. 49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will
send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and
persecute: 50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from
the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 51 From
the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between
the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of
this generation. 52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the
key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were
entering in ye hindered. 53 And as he said these things unto them, the
scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke
him to speak of many things: 54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to
catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

Lesson Daniel 2:14-24
14 Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom
to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay
the wise men of Babylon: 15 He answered and said to Arioch the king's
captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the
thing known to Daniel. 16 Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king
that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the
interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing
known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: 18 That they
would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that
Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men
of Babylon. 19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night
vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. 20 Daniel answered and
said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might
are his: 21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth
kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and
knowledge to them that know understanding: 22 He revealeth the deep and
secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light
dwelleth with him. 23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my
fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me
now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the
king's matter. 24 Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king
had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus
unto him, Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the
king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.

Lesson Acts 20:17
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and
called the elders of the church. 18 And when they were come to him, he
said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after
what manner I have been with you at all seasons, 19 Serving the Lord
with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which
befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: 20 And how I kept back
nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have
taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the
Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward
our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto
Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save
that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and
afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count
I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,
and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify
the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all,
among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face
no more. 26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from
the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all
the counsel of God. 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all
the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to
feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in
among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men
arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31
Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased
not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32 And now, brethren, I
commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build
you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are
sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. 34
Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my
necessities, and to them that were with me. 35 I have shewed you all
things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to
remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to
give than to receive. 36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down,
and prayed with them all. 37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul's
neck, and kissed him, 38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he
spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him
unto the ship.

Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up
until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear
before the Lord, and there abide for ever. 23 And Elkanah her husband
said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned
him; only the Lord establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her
son suck until she weaned him. 24 And when she had weaned him, she took
him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a
bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh:
and the child was young. 25 And they slew a bullock, and brought the
child to Eli. 26 And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord,
I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. 27 For
this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I
asked of him: 28 Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as
he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord

the child did minister unto the Lord before Eli the priest.

Lesson Luke 12:1-12
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered
together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode
one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all,
Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 For
there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that
shall not be known. 3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness
shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in
closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. 4 And I say unto you my
friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have
no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear:
Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea,
I say unto you, Fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two
farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7 But even the
very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of
more value than many sparrows. 8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall
confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the
angels of God: 9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied
before the angels of God. 10 And whosoever shall speak a word against
the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth
against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven. 11 And when they bring
you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no
thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12 For
the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to
say.

Lesson Daniel 2:25-35
25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king
in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of
Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation. 26 The
king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou
able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the
interpretation thereof? 27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king,
and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men,
the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; 28
But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to
the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and
the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these; 29 As for thee, O king,
thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass
hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall
come to pass. 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for
any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that
shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest
know the thoughts of thy heart. 31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a
great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood
before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. 32 This image's head was
of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his
thighs of brass, 33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of
clay. 34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them
to pieces. 35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and
the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the
summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place
was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great
mountain, and filled the whole earth.

Lesson Acts 21:1-14
1 And it came to pass, that after we were gotten
from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos,
and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara: 2 And
finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set
forth. 3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand,
and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to
unlade her burden. 4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days:
who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to
Jerusalem. 5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and
went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and
children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the
shore, and prayed. 6 And when we had taken our leave one of another, we
took ship; and they returned home again. 7 And when we had finished our
course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and
abode with them one day. 8 And the next day we that were of Paul's
company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house
of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with
him. 9 And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a
certain prophet, named Agabus. 11 And when he was come unto us, he took
Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith
the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth
this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. 12
And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place,
besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, What mean
ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only,
but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14 And when
he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be
done.

Lesson Samuel 2:18-26
18 But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being
a child, girded with a linen ephod. 19 Moreover his mother made him a
little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up
with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. 20 And Eli blessed
Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman
for the loan which is lent to the Lord. And they went unto their own
home. 21 And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare
three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the Lord.
22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all
Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of
the tabernacle of the congregation. 23 And he said unto them, Why do ye
such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. 24
Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the Lord's
people to transgress. 25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall
judge him: but if a man sin against the Lord, who shall entreat for him?
Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father,
because the Lord would slay them. 26 And the child Samuel grew on, and
was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men.

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich

What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build

will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years;
take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him,

Lesson Daniel 2:36-45
36 This is the dream; and we will tell the
interpretation thereof before the king. 37 Thou, O king, art a king of
kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and
strength, and glory. 38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the
beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine
hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of
gold. 39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee,
and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the
earth. 40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as
iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that
breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. 41 And whereas
thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron,
the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength
of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42
And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the
kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43 And whereas thou
sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the
seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is
not mixed with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of
heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom
shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45 Forasmuch as
thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands,
and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver,
and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come
to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation
thereof sure.

Lesson Acts 21:15-26
15 And after those days we took up our
carriages, and went up to Jerusalem. 16 There went with us also certain
of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of
Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge. 17 And when we were
come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly. 18 And the day
following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were
present. 19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what
things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. 20 And when
they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest,
brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they
are all zealous of the law: 21 And they are informed of thee, that thou
teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses,
saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk
after the customs. 22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs
come together: for they will hear that thou art come. 23 Do therefore
this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them; 24
Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them,
that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things,
whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou
thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law. 25 As touching the
Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe
no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered
to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. 26
Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them
entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of
purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of
them.

Lesson 1 Samuel 3:1-18
1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord
before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in those days; there
was no open vision. 2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was
laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not
see; 3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where
the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; 4 That the Lord
called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 5 And he ran unto Eli, and
said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie
down again. And he went and lay down. 6 And the Lord called yet again,
Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou
didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again. 7
Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord
yet revealed unto him. 8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third
time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst
call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child. 9
Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he
call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So
Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the Lord came, and stood,
and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered,
Speak; for thy servant heareth. 11 And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold,
I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that
heareth it shall tingle. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all
things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will
also make an end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for
ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves
vile, and he restrained them not. 14 And therefore I have sworn unto the
house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with
sacrifice nor offering for ever. 15 And Samuel lay until the morning,
and opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel feared to shew
Eli the vision. 16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And
he answered, Here am I. 17 And he said, What is the thing that the Lord
hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee,
and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he
said unto thee. 18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from
him. And he said, It is the Lord: let him do what seemeth him good.

Lesson Luke 12:22-34
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I
say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither
for the body, what ye shall put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and
the body is more than raiment. 24 Consider the ravens: for they neither
sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth
them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? 25 And which of you
with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? 26 If ye then be
not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the
rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin
not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not
arrayed like one of these. 28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is
to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more
will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? 29 And seek not ye what ye
shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your
Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31 But rather seek ye
the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give
you the kingdom. 33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves
bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not,
where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. 34 For where your
treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Lesson Daniel 3:1-7
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold,
whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits:
he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. 2 Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the
governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the
counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come
to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3 Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the
treasurers, and counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the
provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that
Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 4 Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is
commanded, O people, nations, and languages, 5 That at what time ye hear
the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and
all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image that
Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: 6 And whoso falleth not down and

centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain

and demanded who he was, and what he had done. 34 And some cried one

Lesson 1 Samuel 4:1b-11
1 And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now
Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside
Ebenezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek. 2 And the Philistines
put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle,
Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in
the field about four thousand men. 3 And when the people were come into
the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the Lord smitten us
today before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of
the Lord out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may
save us out of the hand of our enemies. 4 So the people sent to Shiloh,
that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the Lord of
hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli,
Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God. 5
And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord came into the camp, all
Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again. 6 And
when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What
meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And
they understood that the ark of the Lord was come into the camp. 7 And
the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp.
And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing
heretofore. 8 Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these
mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the
plagues in the wilderness. 9 Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O
ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have
been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight. 10 And the Philistines
fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent:
and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty
thousand footmen. 11 And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of
Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

Lesson Luke 12:35-48
35 Let your loins be girded about, and your
lights burning; 36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their
lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and
knocketh, they may open unto him immediately. 37 Blessed are those
servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say
unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat,
and will come forth and serve them. 38 And if he shall come in the
second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are
those servants. 39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had
known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not
have suffered his house to be broken through. 40 Be ye therefore ready
also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. 41 Then
Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even
to all? 42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them
their portion of meat in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant, whom
his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 44 Of a truth I say unto
you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. 45 But and if
that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall
begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to
be drunken; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he
looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut
him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself,
neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be
beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall
be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will
ask the more.

Lesson Daniel 3:8-18
8 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came
near, and accused the Jews. 9 They spake and said to the king
Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever. 10 Thou, O king, hast made a
decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute,
harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, shall
fall down and worship the golden image: 11 And whoso falleth not down
and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning

affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego;
these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor
worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 13 Then Nebuchadnezzar
in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Then they brought these men before the king. 14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and
said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye
serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15 Now
if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute,
harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall
down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship
not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery
furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? 16
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O
Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If
it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning

Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech
thee, suffer me to speak unto the people. 40 And when he had given him
licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the
people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in
the Hebrew tongue, saying,
1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence
which I make now unto you. 2 (And when they heard that he spake in the
Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,) 3 I am
verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet
brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to
the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward
God, as ye all are this day. 4 And I persecuted this way unto the death,
binding and delivering into prisons both men and women. 5 As also the
high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from
whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to
bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished. 6
And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto
Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light
round about me. 7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying
unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 8 And I answered, Who art
thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou
persecutest. 9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were
afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. 10 And I
said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go
into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are
appointed for thee to do. 11 And when I could not see for the glory of
that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into
Damascus. 12 And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having
a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, 13 Came unto me, and
stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same
hour I looked up upon him. 14 And he said, The God of our fathers hath
chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One,
and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. 15 For thou shalt be his
witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. 16 And now why
tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling
on the name of the Lord.

12 And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the

earth upon his head. 13 And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the
wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when

when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise

and I fled today out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my
son? 17 And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the
Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the
people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the
ark of God is taken. 18 And it came to pass, when he made mention of the
ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the
gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy.
And he had judged Israel forty years. 19 And his daughter in law,
Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard
the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law
and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her
pains came upon her. 20 And about the time of her death the women that
stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast borne a son. But she
answered not, neither did she regard it. 21 And she named the child
Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of
God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. 22 And
she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is
taken.

Lesson Luke 12:49
49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what
will I, if it be already kindled? 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized
with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! 51 Suppose ye
that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather
division: 52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house
divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 The father shall
be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother
against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in
law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her
mother in law. 54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud
rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so
it is. 55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be
heat; and it cometh to pass. 56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face
of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this
time? 57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? 58
When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in
the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he
hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and
the officer cast thee into prison. 59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart
thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.

Lesson Daniel 3:19
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the
form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:
therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one
seven times more than it was wont to be heated. 20 And he commanded the
most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21 Then these
men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their
other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery
furnace. 22 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the
furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace. 24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up
in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast
three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto
the king, True, O king. 25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men
loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the
form of the fourth is like the Son of God. 26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came
near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said,
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come
forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth
of the midst of the fire. 27 And the princes, governors, and captains,
and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon
whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head
singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had
passed on them. 28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the
God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and
delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's
word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship
any god, except their own God. 29 Therefore I make a decree, That every
people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the
God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and
their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God
that can deliver after this sort. 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Lesson Acts 22:17-29
17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come
again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a
trance; 18 And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly
out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.
19 And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every
synagogue them that believed on thee: 20 And when the blood of thy
martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his
death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him. 21 And he said unto
me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles. 22 And
they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices,
and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that
he should live. 23 And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes,
and threw dust into the air, 24 The chief captain commanded him to be
brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by
scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him. 25
And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that
stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and
uncondemned? 26 When the centurion heard that, he went and told the
chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a
Roman. 27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art
thou a Roman? He said, Yea. 28 And the chief captain answered, With a
great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.
29 Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined
him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a
Roman, and because he had bound him.
