Lesson Malachi 2:14
14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath
been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou
hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy
covenant. 15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the
spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore
take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the
wife of his youth. 16 For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he
hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith
the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not
treacherously. 17 Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say,
Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is
good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is
the God of judgment?

Lesson Matthew 19:3-9a, 13-15
3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting
him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife
for every cause? 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read,
that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall
cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6 Wherefore they
are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined
together, let not man put asunder. 7 They say unto him, Why did Moses
then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 8 He
saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered
you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And
I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for
fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso
marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
13 Then were there brought unto him little
children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the
disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and
forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 9:4-10
4 For to him that is joined to all the living
there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the
living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither
have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also
their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither
have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under
the sun. 7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a
merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. 8 Let thy garments be
always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. 9 Live joyfully with
the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which
he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that
is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under
the sun. 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for
there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave,
whither thou goest.

Lesson Ephesians 6:1-9
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for
this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first
commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou
mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your
children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of
the Lord. 5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters
according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your
heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the
servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good
will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that
whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the
Lord, whether he be bond or free. 9 And, ye masters, do the same things
unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in
heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Lesson Exodus 32:1-6, 15-20, 30-34
1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to
come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto
Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us;
for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of
Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 2 And Aaron said unto them,
Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of
your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the
people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and
brought them unto Aaron. 4 And he received them at their hand, and
fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf:
and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of
the land of Egypt. 5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it;
and Aaron made proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.
6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and
brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink,
and rose up to play.
15 And Moses turned, and went down from the
mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables
were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were
they written. 16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing
was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. 17 And when Joshua heard
the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a
noise of war in the camp. 18 And he said, It is not the voice of them
that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for
being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. 19 And it
came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the
calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the
tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20 And he
took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground
it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of
Israel drink of it.
30 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses
said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up
unto the Lord; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31
And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Oh, this people have sinned
a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32 Yet now, if thou wilt
forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book
which thou hast written. 33 And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath
sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. 34 Therefore now go,
lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold,
mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I
will visit their sin upon them.

Lesson 1 Corinthians 10:14-22
14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from
idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. 16 The cup of
blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?
The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all
partakers of that one bread. 18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not
they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What say I
then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice
to idols is any thing? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles
sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not
that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup
of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's
table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to
jealousy? are we stronger than he?

Lesson Jeremiah 31:31-37
31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I
will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of
Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers
in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of
Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto
them, saith the Lord: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put
my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be
their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more
every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the
Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the
greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and
I will remember their sin no more. 35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth
the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the
stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves
thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances
depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also
shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the
Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth
searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for
all that they have done, saith the Lord.

31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said,
Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God
be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall
straightway glorify him. 33 Little children, yet a little while I am
with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go,
ye cannot come; so now I say to you. 34 A new commandment I give unto
you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love
one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if
ye have love one to another.

Lesson Jeremiah 2:1-9, 13
1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me,
saying, 2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the
Lord; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine
espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that
was not sown. 3 Israel was holiness unto the Lord, and the firstfruits
of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon
them, saith the Lord. 4 Hear ye the word of the Lord, O house of Jacob,
and all the families of the house of Israel: 5 Thus saith the Lord, What
iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me,
and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? 6 Neither said they,
Where is the Lord that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led
us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits,
through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land
that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt? 7 And I brought you
into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness
thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage
an abomination. 8 The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that
handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me,
and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not
profit. 9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the Lord, and with
your children's children will I plead.
13 For my people have committed two evils; they
have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out
cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Lesson Matthew 22:1-4
1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again
by parables, and said, 2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain
king, which made a marriage for his son, 3 And sent forth his servants
to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 4
Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden,
Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed,
and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 5 But they made light
of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and
slew them. 7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent
forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their
city. 8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they
which were bidden were not worthy. 9 Go ye therefore into the highways,
and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 10 So those servants
went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they
found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 11
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which
had not on a wedding garment: 12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how
camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was
speechless. 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and
foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall
be weeping and gnashingof teeth. 14 For many are called, but few are
chosen.

Lesson 2 Kings 2:1-15
1 And it came to pass, when the Lord would take
up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from
Gilgal. 2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the
Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord
liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down
to Bethel. 3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth
to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away
thy master from thy head today? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye
your peace. 4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee;
for the Lord hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the Lord liveth,
and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and
said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from
thy head today? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace. 6
And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the Lord hath
sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul
liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on. 7 And fifty men of
the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two
stood by Jordan. 8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together,
and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that
they two went over on dry ground. 9 And it came to pass, when they were
gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee,
before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a
double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked
a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it
shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. 11 And it came to
pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a
chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and
Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw it, and he
cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen
thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes,
and rent them in two pieces. 13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah
that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; 14
And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the
waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had
smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went
over. 15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho
saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they
came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

Lesson Acts 24:10
10 Then Paul, after that the governor had
beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast
been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully
answer for myself: 11 Because that thou mayest understand, that there
are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship. 12
And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither
raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city: 13
Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. 14 But
this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so
worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written
in the law and in the prophets: 15 And have hope toward God, which they
themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead,
both of the just and unjust. 16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have
always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men. 17 Now
after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings. 18
Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple,
neither with multitude, nor with tumult. 19 Who ought to have been here
before thee, and object, if they had ought against me. 20 Or else let
these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I
stood before the council, 21 Except it be for this one voice, that I
cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am
called in question by you this day. 22 And when Felix heard these
things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and
said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the
uttermost of your matter. 23 And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul,
and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his
acquaintance to minister or come unto him. 24 And after certain days,
when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for
Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. 25 And as he
reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix
trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a
convenient season, I will call for thee. 26 He hoped also that money
should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore
he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. 27 But after two
years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew
the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.

Lesson 2 Kings 4:8-17
8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to
Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread.
And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat
bread. 9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this
is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. 10 Let us make a
little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a
bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when
he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. 11 And it fell on a day,
that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. 12
And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had
called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said unto him, Say now unto
her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is
to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the
captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people. 14
And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered,
Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. 15 And he said, Call
her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door. 16 And he said,
About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a
son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine
handmaid. 17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that
Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.

Lesson 1 Timothy 3:14. 4:5
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to
come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know
how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the
church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16 And
without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest
in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the
Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the
latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing
spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having
their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and
commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received
with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every
creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received
with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and
prayer.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 1:2-11
2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity
of vanities; all is vanity. 3 What profit hath a man of all his labour
which he taketh under the sun? 4 One generation passeth away, and
another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. 5 The sun
also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he
arose. 6 The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the
north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again
according to his circuits. 7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the
sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither
they return again. 8 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it:
the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing. 9
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is
done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the
sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it
hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11 There is no
remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of
things that are to come with those that shall come after.

Lesson Matthew 19:16
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good
Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And
he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one,
that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou
shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear
false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love
thy neighbour as thyself. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these
things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto
him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to
the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow
me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful:
for he had great possessions. 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the
kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel
to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the
kingdom of God. 25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly
amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26 But Jesus beheld them, and
said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are
possible. 27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have
forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? 28 And
Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed
me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of
his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve
tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or
brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or
lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall
inherit everlasting life. 30 But many that are first shall be last; and

Lesson 1 Timothy 4:6
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of
these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished
up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast
attained. 7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise
thyself rather unto godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little:
but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life
that now is, and of that which is to come. 9 This is a faithful saying
and worthy of all acceptation. 10 For therefore we both labour and
suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour
of all men, specially of those that believe. 11 These things command and
teach. 12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the
believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in
purity. 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to
doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee
by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy
profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the
doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save
thyself, and them that hear thee.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 2:1-11
I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove
thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is
vanity. 2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? 3
I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine
heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was
that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all
the days of their life. 4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I
planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted
trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to
water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: 7 I got me servants
and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great
possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem
before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar
treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women
singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments,
and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all
that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10
And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my
heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was
my portion of all my labour. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my
hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and,
behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit
under the sun.

And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is
right I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again he went out
about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the
eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith
unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him,
Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the
vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. 8 So when even
was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the
labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the
first. 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour,
they received every man a penny. 10 But when the first came, they
supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received
every man a penny. 11 And when they had received it, they murmured
against the goodman of the house, 12 Saying, These last have wrought but
one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the
burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said,
Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14
Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as
unto thee. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own?
Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and
the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Lesson 2 Kings 4:25b-37
25b And it came to pass, when the man of God saw
her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that
Shunammite: 26 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is
it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the
child? And she answered, It is well. 27 And when she came to the man of
God to the hill, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to
thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is
vexed within her: and the Lord hath hid it from me, and hath not told
me. 28 Then she said, Did I desire a son of my lord? did I not say, Do
not deceive me? 29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take
my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him
not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon
the face of the child. 30 And the mother of the child said, As the Lord
liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and
followed her. 31 And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff
upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing.
Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is
not awaked. 32 And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the
child was dead, and laid upon his bed. 33 He went in therefore, and shut
the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the Lord. 34 And he went up,
and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes
upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself
upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. 35 Then he
returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched
himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child
opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this
Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he
said, Take up thy son. 37 Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and
bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out.

Lesson 1 Timothy 5:1-16
1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a
father; and the younger men as brethren; 2 The elder women as mothers;
the younger as sisters, with all purity. 3 Honour widows that are widows
indeed. 4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn
first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is
good and acceptable before God. 5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and
desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers
night and day. 6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she
liveth. 7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless. 8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own
house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 9 Let not
a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been
the wife of one man, 10 Well reported of for good works; if she have
brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed
the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have
diligently followed every good work. 11 But the younger widows refuse:
for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 13
And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house;
and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things
which they ought not. 14 I will therefore that the younger women marry,
bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to
speak reproachfully. 15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve
them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that
are widows indeed.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 2:18
18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken
under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be
after me. 19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool?
yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and
wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity. 20
Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour
which I took under the sun. 21 For there is a man whose labour is in
wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not
laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity
and a great evil. 22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the
vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun? 23 For
all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh
not rest in the night. This is also vanity. 24 There is nothing better
for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make
his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the
hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more
than I? 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and
knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and
to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also
is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Lesson Matthew 20:17
17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the
twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go
up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief
priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to
crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. 20 Then came to him
the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and
desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt
thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one
on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But
Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink
of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism
that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23 And he saith
unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the
baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my
left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is
prepared of my Father. 24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved
with indignation against the two brethren. 25 But Jesus called them unto
him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise
dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon
them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great
among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief
among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not
to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom
for many. 29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude
followed him. 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side,
when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on
us, O Lord, thou Son of David. 31 And the multitude rebuked them,
because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying,
Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. 32 And Jesus stood still,
and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? 33
They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. 34 So Jesus had
compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes
received sight, and they followed him.

Lesson 2 Kings 5:1-8
1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of
Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him
the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in
valour, but he was a leper. 2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies,
and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid;
and she waited on Naaman's wife. 3 And she said unto her mistress, Would
God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would
recover him of his leprosy. 4 And one went in, and told his lord,
saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. 5 And
the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the
king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of
silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. 6
And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this
letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my
servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. 7 And it
came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent
his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this
man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore
consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. 8 And
it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel
had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast
thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that
there is a prophet in Israel.

Lesson 1 Timothy 5:17
17 Let the elders that rule well be counted
worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and
doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that
treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. 19
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three
witnesses. 20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may
fear. 21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the
elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one
before another, doing nothing by partiality. 22 Lay hands suddenly on no
man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure. 23
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and
thine often infirmities. 24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going
before to judgment; and some men they follow after. 25 Likewise also the
good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise
cannot be hid.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, 9-15
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time
to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born, and a time to
die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that
wherein he laboureth? 10 I have seen the travail, which God hath given
to the sons of men to be exercised in it. 11 He hath made every thing
beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so
that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to
the end. 12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to
rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13 And also that every man should
eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of
God. 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing
can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that
men should fear before him. 15 That which hath been is now; and that
which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is
past.

Lesson Matthew 21:1-16
1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and
were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two
disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and
straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them,
and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall
say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. 4
All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the
prophet, saying, 5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh
unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, 7 And brought
the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him
thereon. 8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way;
others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. 9
And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying,
Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of
the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10 And when he was come into
Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 11 And the
multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. 12 And
Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and
bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and
the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written,
My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den
of thieves. 14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and
he healed them. 15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the
wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and
saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased, 16 And
said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them,
Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou
hast perfected praise?

Lesson 2 Kings 5:9-19
9 So Naaman came with his horses and with his
chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha
sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times,
and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But
Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will
surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his
God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are
not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of
Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away
in a rage. 13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said,
My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest
thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee,
Wash, and be clean? 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times
in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came
again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 15 And he
returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood
before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all
the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of
thy servant. 16 But he said, As the Lord liveth, before whom I stand, I
will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused. 17 And
Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant
two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer
neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the Lord.
18 In this thing the Lord pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth
into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand,
and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the
house of Rimmon, the Lord pardon thy servant in this thing. 19 And he
said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way.

Lesson 1 Timothy 6:1-11
1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke
count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and
his doctrine be not blasphemed. 2 And they that have believing masters,
let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them
service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the
benefit. These things teach and exhort. 3 If any man teach otherwise,
and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus
Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is
proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words,
whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse
disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth,
supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But
godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into
this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having
food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be
rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful
lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of
money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have
erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 3:16
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of
judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness,
that iniquity was there. 17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the
righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose
and for every work. 18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the
sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that
they themselves are beasts. 19 For that which befalleth the sons of men
befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so
dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no
preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go unto one place;
all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. 21 Who knoweth the
spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth
downward to the earth? 22 Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing
better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his
portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

Lesson Matthew 21:17-32
17 And he left them, and went out of the city
into Bethany; and he lodged there. 18 Now in the morning as he retured
into the city, he hungered. 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he
came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto
it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the
fig tree withered away. 20 And when the disciples saw it, they
marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus
answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith,
and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree,
but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be
thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever
ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. 23 And when he was
come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people
came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou
these things? and who gave thee this authority? 24 And Jesus answered
and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me,
I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The
baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they
reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will
say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? 26 But if we shall say, Of
men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. 27 And they
answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither
tell I you by what authority I do these things. 28 But what think ye? A
certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go
work to day in my vineyard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but
afterward he repented, and went. 30 And he came to the second, and said
likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. 31 Whether
of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first.
Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the
harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came unto you
in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans
and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not
afterward, that ye might believe him.

Lesson 2 Kings 5:20
20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of
God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not
receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I
will run after him, and take somewhat of him. 21 So Gehazi followed
after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down
from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? 22 And he said, All
is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come
to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give
them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. 23
And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and
bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments,
and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him.
24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and
bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. 25
But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him,
Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. 26
And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned
again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and
to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen,
and menservants, and maidservants? 27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman
shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from
his presence a leper as white as snow.

Lesson 1 Timothy 6:12
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on
eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good
profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of
God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before
Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep this
commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord
Jesus Christ: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed
and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only
hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto;
whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power
everlasting. Amen. 17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they
be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that
they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time
to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 20 O Timothy, keep that
which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings,
and oppositions of science falsely so called: 21 Which some professing
have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 5:1-17
1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of
God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for
they consider not that they do evil. 2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and
let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is
in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. 3 For a
dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is
known by multitude of words. 4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer
not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou
hast vowed. 5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou
shouldest vow and not pay. 6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to
sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore
should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? 7
For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers
vanities: but fear thou God.

Lesson Matthew 21:33
33 Hear another parable: There was a certain
householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and
digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country: 34 And when the time of the
fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might
receive the fruits of it. 35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and
beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again, he sent
other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 37
But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence
my son. 38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among
themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on
his inheritance. 39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the
vineyard, and slew him. 40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard
cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 41 They say unto him, He
will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard
unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their
seasons. 42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,
The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of
the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you,
and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 44 And
whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it
shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 45 And when the chief priests
and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of
them. 46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the
multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
