Lesson Isaiah 59:15b
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from
evil maketh himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him
that there was no judgment. 16 And he saw that there was no man, and
wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought
salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. 17 For he
put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon
his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was
clad with zeal as a cloak. 18 According to their deeds, accordingly he
will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the
islands he will repay recompence. 19 So shall they fear the name of the
Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the
enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a
standard against him. 20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto
them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. 21 As for
me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is
upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart
out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth
of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever.

Lesson 2 Corinthians 10:1-7, 17-18
1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness
and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being
absent am bold toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold
when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold
against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and
bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And
having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience
is fulfilled. 7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If
any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think
this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.
17 But he that glorieth, let him glory in the
Lord. 18 For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the
Lord commendeth.

Lesson Baruch 3:14-15, 29-37
14 Learn where is wisdom, where is strength,
where is understanding; that thou mayest know also where is length of
days, and life, where is the light of the eyes, and peace. 15 Who hath
found out her place? or who hath come into her treasures ?
29 Who hath gone up into heaven, and taken her,
and brought her down from the clouds? 30 Who hath gone over the sea, and
found her, and will bring her for pure gold? 31 No man knoweth her way,
nor thinketh of her path. 32 But he that knoweth all things knoweth her,
and hath found her out with his understanding: he that prepared the
earth for evermore hath filled it with fourfooted beasts: 33 He that
sendeth forth light, and it goeth, calleth it again, and it obeyeth him
with fear. 34 The stars shined in their watches, and rejoiced: when he
calleth them, they say, Here we be; and so with cheerfulness they shewed
light unto him that made them. 35 This is our God, and there shall none
other be accounted of in comparison of him 36 He hath found out all the
way of knowledge, and hath given it unto Jacob his servant, and to
Israel his beloved. 37 Afterward did he shew himself upon earth, and
conversed with men.

Lesson John 9:1-38
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was
blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who
did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus
answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the
works of God should be made manifest in him. 4 I must work the works of
him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can
work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 6
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the
spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7 And
said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by
interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came
seeing. 8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him
that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged? 9 Some
said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he. 10
Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened? 11 He answered
and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes,
and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and
washed, and I received sight. 12 Then said they unto him, Where is he?
He said, I know not. 13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime
was blind. 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and
opened his eyes. 15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had
received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I
washed, and do see. 16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is
not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can
a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among
them. 17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him,
that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet. 18 But the
Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and
received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had
received his sight. 19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son,
who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see? 20 His parents
answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was
born blind: 21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath
opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for
himself. 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews:
for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was
Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. 23 Therefore said his
parents, He is of age; ask him. 24 Then again called they the man that
was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man
is a sinner. 25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I
know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. 26
Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine
eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear:
wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples? 28 Then
they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses'
disciples. 29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we
know not from whence he is. 30 The man answered and said unto them, Why
herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and
yet he hath opened mine eyes. 31 Now we know that God heareth not
sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him
he heareth. 32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man
opened the eyes of one that was born blind. 33 If this man were not of
God, he could do nothing. 34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast
altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he
said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? 36 He answered and
said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? 37 And Jesus said
unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

Lesson Exodus 33:1, 12-23
1 And the Lord said unto Moses, Depart, and go up
hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of
Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob,
saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
12 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest
unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou
wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou
hast also found grace in my sight. 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I
have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know
thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation
is thy people. 14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I
will give thee rest. 15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not
with me, carry us not up hence. 16 For wherein shall it be known here
that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that
thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all
the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And the Lord said
unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou
hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 18 And he said, I
beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my
goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord
before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will
shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20 And he said, Thou canst not see
my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the Lord said,
Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And
it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee
in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass
by: 23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts:
but my face shall not be seen.

Lesson Hebrews 4:1-13
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being
left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short
of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but
the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in
them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as
he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest:
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For
he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did
rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this place again, If
they shall enter into my rest. 6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some
must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not
in because of unbelief: 7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in
David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will
hear his voice, harden not your hearts. 8 For if Jesus had given them
rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There
remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is
entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God
did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest
any man fall after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the word of God
is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing
even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all
things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to
do.

Lesson Genesis 15:1-6
1 After these things the word of the Lord came
unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and
thy exceeding great reward. 2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou
give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this
Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no
seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. 4 And, behold, the
word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir;
but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine
heir. 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward
heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said
unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the Lord; and he
counted it to him for righteousness.

Lesson Romans 4:1-8
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father,
as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified
by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith
the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for
righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of
grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him
that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God
imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose
iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the
man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Lesson 2 Kings 5:1-15a
1 Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of
Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him
the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in
valour, but he was a leper. 2 And the Syrians had gone out by companies,
and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid;
and she waited on Naaman's wife. 3 And she said unto her mistress, Would
God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would
recover him of his leprosy. 4 And one went in, and told his lord,
saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel. 5 And
the king of Syria said, Go to, go, and I will send a letter unto the
king of Israel. And he departed, and took with him ten talents of
silver, and six thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. 6
And he brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this
letter is come unto thee, behold, I have therewith sent Naaman my
servant to thee, that thou mayest recover him of his leprosy. 7 And it
came to pass, when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent
his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this
man doth send unto me to recover a man of his leprosy? wherefore
consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrel against me. 8 And
it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel
had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast
thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that
there is a prophet in Israel. 9 So Naaman came with his horses and with
his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha
sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times,
and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But
Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will
surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his
God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are
not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of
Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away
in a rage. 13 And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said,
My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest
thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee,
Wash, and be clean? 14 Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times
in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came
again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 15 And he
returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood
before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all
the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of
thy servant.

Lesson John 4:46b
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee,
where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose
son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of
Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would
come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48 Then
said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not
believe. 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child
die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man
believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him,
saying, Thy son liveth. 52 Then inquired he of them the hour when he
began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour
the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour,
in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed,
and his whole house. 54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did,
when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Lesson 2 Kings 6:8-23
8 Then the king of Syria warred against Israel,
and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place
shall be my camp. 9 And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel,
saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians
are come down. 10 And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man
of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor
twice. 11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for
this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not
shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? 12 And one of his
servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in
Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy
bedchamber. 13 And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and
fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. 14
Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and
they came by night, and compassed the city about. 15 And when the
servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an
host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant
said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered,
Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that
he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw:
and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round
about Elisha. 18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the
Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he
smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. 19 And Elisha
said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow
me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to
Samaria. 20 And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that
Elisha said, Lord, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And
the Lord opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the
midst of Samaria. 21 And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he
saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them? 22 And he
answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou
hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water
before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master. 23 And
he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk,
he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria
came no more into the land of Israel.

Lesson Acts 25:1-22
1 Now when Festus was come into the province,
after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem. 2 Then the high
priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought
him, 3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to
Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him. 4 But Festus answered,
that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart
shortly thither. 5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are
able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness
in him. 6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went
down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat
commanded Paul to be brought. 7 And when he was come, the Jews which
came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous
complaints against Paul, which they could not prove. 8 While he answered
for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the
temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all. 9 But
Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt
thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to
be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death,
I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these
accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar. 12
Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou
appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go. 13 And after certain
days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus. 14
And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause
unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix: 15
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of
the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him. 16 To whom
I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to
die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and
have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against
him. 17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the
morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought
forth. 18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none
accusation of such things as I supposed: 19 But had certain questions
against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead,
whom Paul affirmed to be alive. 20 And because I doubted of such manner
of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be
judged of these matters. 21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved
unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might
send him to Caesar. 22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear
the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.

Lesson 2 Timothy 1:1-14
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of
God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2 To
Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the
Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my
forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have
remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; 4 Greatly desiring to
see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; 5
When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which
dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am
persuaded that in thee also. 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that
thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my
hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and
of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the
testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of
the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath
saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our
works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in
Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the
appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and
hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11
Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of
the Gentiles. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things:
nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am
persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him
against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast
heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good
thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which
dwelleth in us.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 5:8
8 If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and
violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at
the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there
be higher than they. 9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the
king himself is served by the field. 10 He that loveth silver shall not
be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase:
this is also vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat
them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding
of them with their eyes? 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet,
whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not
suffer him to sleep. 13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the
sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. 14 But
those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there
is nothing in his hand. 15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked
shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour,
which he may carry away in his hand. 16 And this also is a sore evil,
that in all points as he came, so shall he go: and what profit hath he
that hath laboured for the wind? 17 All his days also he eateth in
darkness, and he hath much sorrow and wrath with his sickness. 18 Behold
that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to
drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the
sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his
portion. 19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and
hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to
rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God. 20 For he shall not much
remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the joy of
his heart.

15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how
they might entangle him in his talk. 16 And they sent out unto him their
disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art
true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any
man: for thou regardest not the person of men. 17 Tell us therefore,
What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? 18
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye
hypocrites? 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a
penny. 20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and
superscription? 21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them,
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God
the things that are God's. 22 When they had heard these words, they
marvelled, and left him, and went their way. 23 The same day came to him
the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his
brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 25 Now
there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a
wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: 26
Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. 27 And last
of all the woman died also. 28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife
shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. 29 Jesus answered and
said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of
God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in
marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31 But as touching the
resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto
you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his
doctrine.

Lesson 2 Kings 6:15-23
15 And when the servant of the man of God was
risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both
with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my
master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be
with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and
said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord
opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain
was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when
they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this
people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness
according to the word of Elisha. 19 And Elisha said unto them, This is
not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you
to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria. 20 And it came to
pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, Lord, open the
eyes of these men, that they may see. And the Lord opened their eyes,
and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria. 21 And the
king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I
smite them? shall I smite them? 22 And he answered, Thou shalt not smite
them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy
sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may
eat and drink, and go to their master. 23 And he prepared great
provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them
away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more
into the land of Israel.

Lesson 2 Timothy 1:15. 2:13
15 This thou knowest, that all they which are in
Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes. 16
The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed
me, and was not ashamed of my chain: 17 But, when he was in Rome, he
sought me out very diligently, and found me. 18 The Lord grant unto him
that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things
he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace
that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me
among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be
able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good
soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with
the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to
be a soldier. 5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not
crowned, except he strive lawfully. 6 The husbandman that laboureth must
be first partaker of the fruits. 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord
give thee understanding in all things. 8 Remember that Jesus Christ of
the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: 9
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word
of God is not bound. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's
sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus
with eternal glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with
him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign
with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not,
yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 6:1-2, 7-12
1 There is an evil which I have seen under the
sun, and it is common among men: 2 A man to whom God hath given riches,
wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that
he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger
eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
7 All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet
the appetite is not filled. 8 For what hath the wise more than the fool?
what hath the poor, that knoweth to walk before the living? 9 Better is
the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the desire: this is also
vanity and vexation of spirit. 10 That which hath been is named already,
and it is known that it is man: neither may he contend with him that is
mightier than he. 11 Seeing there be many things that increase vanity,
what is man the better? 12 For who knoweth what is good for man in this
life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for
who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

Lesson Matthew 22:34
34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had
put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. 35 Then one
of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and
saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great
commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and
the prophets. 41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked
them, 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto
him, The Son of David. 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in
spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on
my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then
call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no man was able to answer him a
word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more
questions.

Lesson 2 Kings 9:1-6, 10b-16
1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the
children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take
this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead: 2 And when thou
comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of
Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and
carry him to an inner chamber; 3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it
on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king
over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not. 4 So the young
man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramothgilead. 5 And when he
came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have
an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And
he said, To thee, O captain. 6 And he arose, and went into the house;
and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the
Lord God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the
Lord, even over Israel.
10b And he opened the door, and fled. 11 Then
Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is
all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them,
Ye know the man, and his communication. 12 And they said, It is false;
tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus
saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. 13 Then they
hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top
of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king. 14 So Jehu
the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now
Joram had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king
of Syria. 15 But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the
wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king
of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth
nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel. 16 So Jehu rode
in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king
of Judah was come down to see Joram.

2 Timothy 2:14
14 Of these things put them in remembrance,
charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no
profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself
approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for
they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17 And their word will eat as
doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the
truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and
overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the foundation of God
standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of
silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to
dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a
vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and
prepared unto every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow
righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord
out of a pure heart. 23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid,
knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must
not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In
meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that
they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken
captive by him at his will.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 8:12 . 9:1
12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and
his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them
that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with
the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow;
because he feareth not before God. 14 There is a vanity which is done
upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according
to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it
happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also
is vanity. 15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing
under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that
shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God
giveth him under the sun. 16 When I applied mine heart to know wisdom,
and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is
that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:) 17 Then I beheld
all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done
under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall
not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall
he not be able to find it.
1 For all this I considered in my heart even to
declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are
in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is
before them.

heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders;
but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But
all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their
phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the

greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But
be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye

Lesson 2 Kings 9:17-28
17 And there stood a watchman on the tower in
Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a
company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and
let him say, Is it peace? 18 So there went one on horseback to meet him,
and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast
thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told,
saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again. 19 Then he
sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith
the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with
peace? turn thee behind me. 20 And the watchman told, saying, He came
even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the
driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously. 21 And
Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king
of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and
they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the
Jezreelite. 22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said,
Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms
of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? 23 And Joram
turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O
Ahaziah. 24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote
Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he
sunk down in his chariot. 25 Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take
up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite:
for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his
father, the Lord laid this burden upon him; 26 Surely I have seen
yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the
Lord; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the Lord. Now
therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the
word of the Lord. 27 But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he
fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and
said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to
Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there. 28 And
his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in
his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

Lesson 2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves,
covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of
God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from
such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and
lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8
Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the
truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they
shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all
men, as theirs also was. 10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine,
manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at
Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord
delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall
suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and
worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things
which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou
hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through
faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 9:11
11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the
race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet
bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet
favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. 12
For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an
evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons
of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. 13
This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a
great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against
it: 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom
delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16 Then
said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's
wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17 The words of wise
men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much
good.

16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by

temple, he is a debtor! 17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater,
the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? 18 And, Whosoever
shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the
gift that is upon it, he is guilty. 19 Ye fools and blind: for whether

therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things

Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that

indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's
bones, and of all uncleanness. 28 Even so ye also outwardly appear
righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. 29
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the
tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, 30
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have
been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31 Wherefore ye
be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which
killed the prophets. 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of
hell? 34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them
shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to
city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the

say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37 O
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them

Lesson 2 Kings 11:1-4, 9-16
1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw
that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal. 2 But
Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the
son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were
slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from
Athaliah, so that he was not slain. 3 And he was with her hid in the
house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land. 4 And
the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds,
with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house
of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in
the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king's son.
9 And the captains over the hundreds did
according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they
took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them
that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest. 10
And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's
spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord. 11 And the
guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the
king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the
temple, along by the altar and the temple. 12 And he brought forth the
king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and
they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and
said, God save the king. 13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the
guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the
Lord. 14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the
manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the
people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent
her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason. 15 But Jehoiada the priest
commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and
said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that
followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not
be slain in the house of the Lord. 16 And they laid hands on her; and
she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king's house:
and there was she slain.

might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 18 And the
Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto
his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 19
Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus
abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. 21 Do thy
diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and
Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren. 22 The Lord Jesus Christ be
with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.

Lesson Ecclesiastes 12
1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy
youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou
shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; 2 While the sun, or the light, or
the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the
rain: 3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the
strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are
few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened, 4 And the doors
shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and
he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of
music shall be brought low; 5 Also when they shall be afraid of that
which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall
flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail:
because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the
streets: 6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be
broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at
the cistern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and
the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. 8 Vanity of vanities,
saith the preacher; all is vanity. 9 And moreover, because the preacher
was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed,
and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. 10 The preacher sought
to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright,
even words of truth. 11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails
fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one
shepherd. 12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making
many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep
his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall
bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be
good, or whether it be evil.

Lesson Matthew 24:1-14
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the
temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of
the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things?
verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon
another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount
of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when
shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of
the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed
that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am
Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours
of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to
pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the
beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted,
and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's
sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another,
and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and
shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of
many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same
shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in
all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end
come.
